your irreverent update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...
The good news?
Christina got a promotion at the funeral home and is now an assistant to the vice president of embalming (or something like that).
The bad news?
Christina learns that her biological daughter (Rachel) has died.
It seems that Christina gave up Rachel for adoption and the two never met after that. To further complicate matters, Rachel happens to be the mother of Lucy and wife of Richie (currently in jail and accused of killing Rachel).
Lucy is a troubled child and prone to violent outbursts. Tim now has his suspicions about how Rachel died and shares his concerns with Lisa Swain. Ominously, Lucy is seen spying on Tim and Lisa. And we know that Richie is covering up for Lucy's actions so hopefully Tim and Sally will be on their guard as Lucy's behaviour becomes more erratic and violent.
More good news and bad news.
The good news?
Carl got a job at Street Cars.
The bad news?
Carl got a job at Street Cars.
Let's continue.
The good news?
Susie got an audition in London for that hit West End show, Pippi! (the reviews are already in: "I laughed, I cried, but mostly I tried to get my money back")
The bad news?
While Ben and Susie are away, Eva is alone in the pub and gets pushed down the stairs by Sam who is in a state of frantic anxiety while searching the Rovers for his phone. Glenda finally finds Eva and she is taken to the Coronation Street Wing of Weatherfield General. Eva is badly hurt but will make a full recovery.
An investigation is underway. It seems that Carl was in the pub at the time of the accident and Debbie (who finds a lot of cash in Carl's wallet) tells Detective Kit that she thinks Carl broke into the pub, stole money, and pushed Eva down the stairs.
The good news?
Betsy is recovering nicely and returns to the factory to work.
The bad news?
Betsy's not ready for this step in her recovery and falls asleep at her sewing machine (what's the big deal? It's surely not the first time a machinist has dozed off at Underworld. Probably happens all the time)
The good news?
Shona is finally getting some rest and recovering from her post-partum issues.
The bad news?
Evil Jodie is taking the opportunity to displace Shona from the family and cozy up to David (the husband, not the dog... on second thoughts, maybe both).
And now for a few lines from the week that was:
Sean assures Carla that he is discreet:
"Subtle's my middle name"
(...and chickens have lips)
Debbie assures Kev that she's okay:
"Still not scared of Tracy Barlow"
(that's a good sign)
Debbie to Kit:
"I think Carl might have pushed Eva down the steps"
(he is a good suspect - even if he didn't do it)
Carl to Steve re: Ronnie finding Carl and a 'friend' in a state of undress at Debbie's apartment:
"He caught me in flagrante"
(post legover)
Steve lists some of the Streetcars office issues to new employee Carl:
"We've had a lot of problems with smelly feet"
(so keep your shoes on)
Christina to George re: her teen pregnancy:
"I fell for the charms of my boss"
(as she did for George)

Well fellow Carl Critics, so ends another week. First and foremost my apologies for referring to Maggie as 'Moira' - not once but several times. Not sure how that happened. Age-related probably.
So, what's up with Nick these days? I know he's worried about Sam but he's becoming a real 'Debbie Downer' with a permanent pained expression on his face. Maybe he'll cheer up one day. Till then thanks for stopping by. Always great to have your company. Have a great week!
