Coronation Street Catch Up: the pathetic pity party edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Congratulations Gail!
As they say on Coronation Street, "sixth time lucky!"

Yes, it looks like Gail is getting married and is ready to shuffle off to Provence with Jesse and live in a villa. Sounds lovely except that the villa is a bit of a 'fixer upper'. Fortunately, Jesse has just collected a large bagful of cash from David (the money that Davey stole from Damon et frère).

Jesse says he needs the cash to pay a contractor mate to fix up the villa. In return, David will receive non-stolen money from Jesse to get a mortgage and obtain ownership of Gail's house.

Speaking of David, it seems that his wife, Shona, has been playing away (don't get judgey, it was only once) with Detective Kit. Adam knows she slept with someone but is keeping quiet. Shona returns to see Kit a second time but decides to resist temptation (aka a legover) and returns home. David seems to know that something is awry, but he doesn't know what.

While Shona is out at night resisting Kit, she is clipped by a car and injured. Turns out that she was injured by Daisy who was driving Debbie's stolen car.

Let's unpack.

Daniel had a fight with Bethany and then got drunk. In a drunken state, he decided to steal Debbie's car.  Daisy happened to find drunk Daniel behind the wheel of the car and decided to play fixer. She told Daniel to get out and drove the car to a remote location (clipping Shona along the way) and then she torched the car to destroy the evidence.

Phew! Unfortunately Daisy is caught on CCTV. She subsequently convinces Kit to erase the CCTV footage however, now that the case has turned into a hit and run, things get more complicated for Kit and for Daisy.

Why did Daisy take such a huge risk?

Because she still loves Daniel, however Danny Boy rebuffs Daisy's advances (but only after a quick legover on the Rovers backroom sofa). Daniel and Bethany make up (yet again) and are a couple (for the time being). Daisy is not impressed.

Back at the Platts, Max runs into Joel's parents who say they want to spend time with baby Frankie and then kidnap Frankie and accuse Lauren of abusing the baby. As a result, Frankie is taken away by social services.

In sporting news, Evelyn is delighted to receive a backgammon game from Roy and annoyed after Steve spills beer on it. As a result, she threatens to sue Steve and manages to squeeze 325 pounds out of him. Her legal prowess catches the attention of Alya and Evelyn attends a legal seminar with her.

And now for some lines from the week that was:

Shona to Kit in his hotel room:
"If you were chocolate you'd eat yourself"
(A 'Kit' Kat, one assumes)

Daisy to Daniel:
"Are you done with your pathetic little pity party?"
(I doubt it. That's his best thing)

Shona to David:
"You know me: hard as nails, thick as a plank"
(better than 'hard as a plank, thick as nails')

Gail to her family:
"We're buying a villa"
(on Coronation Street?)

Daisy to Daniel:
"You're a good man and you did a bad thing"
(as opposed to Damon who's a bad man who did a good thing)

Jesse to David and Sarah:
"I've got a tattoo of a sea lion on my butt"
(poor Sea Lion)

Kit to Shona:
"I'd really like to sleep with you again"
(I'd like a fur-lined sink, but let's get real)

Evelyn to Ty:
"Like explaining algebra to a grapefruit"
(Maybe Ty is familiar with multiplying polynomials by monomials?)

Well, festive followers, so ends another week. I hope you had an enjoyable and relaxing week of celebrations and thanks for dropping by and spending some of your Yuletide time here at the Hip. Have a great week and a Happy New Year!
