Coronation Street Catch Up: the nothing jiggy edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

In honour of the new Pope and the language of the Vatican, let's just say this week featured a 'liplockum interruptus'... with dramatic consequences.

Todd and Theo (not the 14th) are having a romantic interlude at Underworld when Theo's wife (Danielle) barges in and sees the two men snogging. She tells Theo to sling his hook but later Theo manages to smooth things over with Danielle and tells Todd to get lost. Not sure how Theo managed to explain things to his wife but Todd is left heartbroken.

It was Kit who tipped off Danielle as to Todd and Theo's activities and that's how Danielle managed to track down the gay couple.

Needless to say Todd is not well pleased with Kit... and neither is David who has just returned from a visit to see Gail in France. As David and Shona pop into their temporary lodgings (Sarah's flat) they discover that Sarah and Kit are an item (height differential notwithstanding).

One might say that Sarah's taste in men runs from cops (Kit)... to robbers (Damon).

Over at Juvie, Dylan has finally had enough of Brody's goading and lays a beating on him. This comes after Sean is badly beaten by Brody's Dad (Mick) and left bloodied in the ginnel. Sean files a complaint with the police but then withdraws the complaint after Gemma tells him that Mick has threatened her quads.

Later, Mick and Lou barge into Ches and Gemma's house (why don't they keep the back door locked?) and Mick tells Ches to keep his wife in check. What a creep!

The devious plan to separate Jenny from her money continues as cartoonish arch criminal Christina plots with Daisy to set up a sting. This requires Dom (a faux suitor) to court Jenny and offer a 'can't miss' investment opportunity. In reality, Dom and Christina are a lascivious item (yuck!) and the plan is working nicely - except Daisy is getting cold feet. Also, Daniel happens to see Dom and Christina together at the Chariot Square Hotel and is suspicious.

Eileen is not impressed by George's attempts to put the kibosh on Brian and Julie's budding romance, but it doesn't matter as Brian and Julie are now a bona fide couple, while George is sleeping on the couch for his sins.

Lauren visits her Dad in jail and she tells Pops that he's a rubbish Dad. He tells Lauren that he may not be her father. So, nice jail visit.

Later, Lauren tries to stop Betsy from wrecking Tracy's flowers and somehow the twosome steal the Preston's Petals van and wind up doing a floral version of Thelma and Louise before crashing the van and getting caught by the police.

And now for a few lines from the week that was:

Jenny to Rita:
"I think I'm a bit long in the tooth for a sugar daddy"
(how about a sugar granddaddy?)

Danielle makes an announcement in the Rovers:
"This little homewrecker is sleeping with my husband"
(you'll have to be more specific)

Jenny confesses her skepticism about Dom:
"I thought you might be one of them catfishes"
(he's more of a shark)

Roy to Brian who wonders if he should pursue a relationship with Julie:
"The dangers of life are infinite"
(ask anyone who's taken a ride in a Street Cars cab)

Danielle's drive-by greeting to Sarah:
"Slag!"
(that's Ms. Slag, if you please!)

Christina explains to Daisy why Dom spent the night with Jenny:
"Just doing what was required to secure the transaction"
(most people hire a lawyer)

Jenny to Daisy re: her night with Dom:
"Nothing jiggy happened"
(define 'jiggy')

Eileen tells Julie why she loves George:
"He's a lovely man and he does take the bins out"
(sounds like quite the torrid romance)

Sarah reassures Kit that she's not romantically involved with someone else:
"Todd's still gay"
(phew! keep us posted if there are any changes)

***
Well, patient punters, so ends another week. Mick seems to become more odious with each passing week. Let's hope he gets his comeuppance soon or that the nauseating couple move away as quickly as they appeared. Thanks so much for stopping by and Happy Mother's Day!
