Huzzah!
Another notable Canadian connection on Coronation Street (besides Ken spending time in Canada and, of course, lovable Canuck psychopath Stephen Reid).
According to Mary Taylor, her mother had a short-lived, acrimonious relationship with a Canadian lover (Laurent Liverpert?) Needless to say, the liaison didn't end well.
Speaking of not ending well, let's move on to Ollie's encounter with Jake. Jake happens to pass by the Rovers scenic outdoor drinking patio/ashtray, just as a drunk Christina stumbles. Jake thinks it's a laugh and takes a video (for future posting purposes), then douses Christina with water. As Jake scarpers, Ollie sees him running away and tackles him.
Jake is injured and Ollie is arrested for assault. Fortunately, Jake eventually tells the truth and Gary (and family) come over to the Rovers en masse to apologize. Looks like Jake is becoming a chip off the old block.
More...um...'activity' at the Rovers as Brian is caught in almost flagrante delicto, after a night upstairs with Moira. Afterwards Moira downplays the whole thing in front of the Rovers crowd and an embarrassed Brian. But later Moira apologizes to Brian. At least we now know that Moira is partial to Rod Stewart - and they are compatible age-wise).
Over at HM Norcross (employee of the month: Ross), Sarah is dealing with Kacey who is threatening Sarah and her family unless Sarah convinces Kit to help Kacey's criminal son. Kit is reluctant to help so Sarah takes matters into her own hands and plants a cellphone and weapon in Kacey's cell. This results in Kacey getting moved to another wing of the jail. Looks like Sarah is becoming the alpha female of the prison.
Over at the funeral parlour, Todd discovers that his eccentric, supposedly near-death client, Celeste, is related to Bernie (their mothers were sisters). However Bernie wants nothing to do with Celeste (even though Celeste says she's dying) because of the way Celeste's family mistreated Bernie's Mum.
Speaking of funerals, George is back and he forgives Christina for her lies. George also tries to mend fences with Todd (who seems to be in a bad place). Todd's latest exploit was to intercept Glenda's date (who, it turns out, is gay) and have it off with him. Glenda is distraught and she and Todd have been at loggerheads. Todd seems unrepentant and reckless. Will he come round (and shave)? Or will he revert to the evil Todd that we once knew?
Over at Tim and Sally's, Lucy continues to reject any kindness from the family and instead insists on seeing her Dad (accused of killing Lucy's Mum). In a phone call, Lucy is told by Richie not to tell the police anything so it looks like they have something to hide.

(and not very smart either)
"Squabbling staff, mediocre food"
(sounds like five stars to me)
Mary recounts the fallout from her Mother's ill-fated affair in Canada:
"The Canadian penchant for fondue was weaponized"
(there's nothing worse than weaponized fondue)
Mary again:
"They met at the disco that was called the Grizzly House"
(I can't 'bear' it)
Christina thanks Glenda for her sympathy:
"I feel grateful to you for not trying to kill me"
(always the hallmark of a good friend)
Lauren expresses her view of males to Ollie:

Well fellow Corrie cobbleros, so ends another week. Nice to get a bit of levity from Mary in the midst of all the serious argy bargy going on. There's obviously more than meets the eye involving Lucy and Richie and the death of Lucy's Mum. I guess we'll learn more in the coming days. Thanks so much for stopping by and do have a great week.
