Coronation Street TGIF: the bad loft conversion edition

please note this post makes reference to the Sept 6 episode on CBC

Lloyd and Steve's brilliant plan to deal with Neil? Send in the clown. Ken and Deirdre need a little encouragement to end their caravan holiday? Send in the cow. Max is acting up during Lily's first birthday party? Send in the cake (and Gail drops it). Nick's faking a brain injury to irk Leanne? Send in Leanne to make the clown come clean  Eccles goes missing but is found and taken to the vet? Send in the cone. Peter wants Steve to visit him (Jim really) in prison? Send in the booze. Tyrone falls through the shoddy loft conversion floor? Send in the doc.

While hiking, Deirdre wrongly identifies the underside of a cow's anatomy and Ken corrects her:
"Those aren't udders"
(The ball's in his court)

Neil questions Andrea about Lloyd's qualities:
"Can he fish?"
(only at the chippie)

Michelle wonders about Tracy's knowledge of bird habitat:
"Do you know what a swallow hole is?"

Maddie complains about the requirements of Carla's factory job:
"You've got to be an egghead to pack her tacky knickers in a stupid box"
(don't tell Kirk)

David is annoyed at Gail's attention to Nick
"It's not national dote on Nick day"
(actually, every day is national dote on Nick day)

Steve and Lloyd concoct a witty retort to Carla who thinks they're scheming:
"We're not in cahoots, we're in a booth"
(Good one, Steve)

Steve to Lloyd re: Neil's head games:
"We can't let that clown win"
(I'm sorry, you'll have to be more specific)

Deirdre is emotional at the sight of an injured Eccles:
"She hates wearing these cones"
(could be worse, she could be wearing a belt)

Michael's suggestion results in a sewing kit as a birthday gift for Kylie:
"It was a bit of a light bulb moment"
(watt the hell was he thinking?)

Sally is ever the oenophile when it comes to fine vintages:
"Is that the wine with a picture of a cat on it?"
(Decanter World Wine Awards gives it five meows)

Audrey is alarmed at Max's behaviour:
"He just chucked Buzz Lightyear at Amy Barlow"
(Poor Buzz Lightyear)

Well, fellow members of Corrieholics Anonymous, so ends another week. I hope poor Tyrone is okay. Although I have to say that, so far, his experience with contractors is actually better than mine.
Thanks so much for stopping by and for your comments. Have a great week and I'll meet you back here next week. Cheers!

  1. While we're mentioning cows, I'm curious about your process. Do you ruminate on events and dialogue after watching an episode or do ideas and responses just squirt into your mind as you're watching?

    1. Thanks for the comment. I generally jot down a few notes while watching the weekday episodes for the weekly roundup and if any udder things jump out at me while watching a particular episode (like Ken's Welsh phrases, for example), then I'll blog something on that and generally milk it for all it's worth. Thanks for asking and all the best.
