Coronation Street Catch Up: the cold-hearted, cynical cow edition

your one-stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

More than a few people have mentioned this and I have to agree. There seems to be very little chemistry between Abi and Kev and I'm having a hard time believing that they're an item.

But apparently they are as a result of Kev doing his "white knight in oily armour' routine and gallantly providing Abi with a (fake) alibi on the night she torched Ray the Sex Pest's car (could happen to anyone).

Sadly the so-called alibi seems to have more holes than Stan Ogden's socks (that's CCTV for you) and the icing on the cake is that Ray has dash cam footage of Abi stealing his car. Now Ray is blackmailing Abi and wants to see her in a hotel (shades of Phelan and Anna?) Abi reluctantly agrees.

Gary and Maria seem to be headed down the aisle. This despite Dr. Ali's desperate plea to Maria to reconsider - especially after their recent legover at Trim Up North.

Speaking of weddings, Adam and Sarah are gearing up for a big do with everyone from Underworld invited. Meanwhile Sarah offers jobless Bethany a temporary gig at the factory. Working in the same place as Beth could prove to be a challenge.

The diagnosis is confirmed and it seems that baby Aled is deaf. This is devastating news for Ches and Gemma and Gemma even resorts to begging Tara to reinstate the Freshco sponsorship deal - to no avail.

Ken's house is up for sale (he's moving to the ritzy retirement enclave with Claudia) and the race is on to buy his house. Tracy is first up but she wants a big family discount. Peter and Morticia Carla now seem to be interested.

Over at the Bailey's, Edison continues to make amends with James and his boyfriend Danny following the revelation that James is gay. However Danny is starting to realize that life may be challenging for James in the future as a gay, black professional footballer.

And now for a few lines from the week that was:

Abi doesn't understand what Kev is saying:
"Care to mansplain?"
(sure, got a manute?)

Sean to Sally about her treatment of Abi:
"If you don't like the peaches, don't shake the tree"
(but Sally is a professional tree shaker)

Tara tells Gemma that the contract with Freshcos is over:
"We've all got our sad stories"
(yeah but some are more important)

Ray to Abi and Kev:
"You guys really do make a nice couple"
(thanks... I think)

Tracy to Claudia re: her offer to buy Ken's house:
"I suppose you think I'm a cold hearted, cynical cow"
(You may think that. I couldn't possibly comment)

Tracy tells Peter he's welcome to visit after she buys Ken's house:
"You can even bring Morticia if you can prise her out of the coffin"
(I'm sure Carla will be thrilled to hear that)

Abi agrees to Ray's blackmail:
"You win. When do you want to meet?"
(next February 29th?)

Well, fellow Denizens of Dev's, so ends another week. We've got Ray the Sex Pest, Gary the Killer and Tracy the Charmer all going at full tilt.  Wouldn't like to see Kev or Abi go to jail (even though Abi is her own worst enemy). Let's hope Paula can work some legal magic. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.
