Coronation Street Catch Up: the Caffeine Force edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Sorry about the late post. The pharmacy was all out of  'Caffeine Force' and I'm a tad sleepy.

Of course, it's no laughing matter on Coronation Street as evil Canadian, Stephen, swaps Elaine's blood pressure medication for caffeine pills and quickly manages to put poor Elaine's metabolism into overdrive. As a result, she keels over in their new apartment (with a spiral staircase. Not great for seniors like Stevie and Elaine, one would think).

Stevie pops in, finds Elaine unconscious on the floor, and then pops out again.

Seems his fiendish plan to kill Elaine and cash in her life insurance policy is working. Once he gets his hands on the insurance money, Steve-o can buy Carla's share of the factory (which he desperately wants to do to prevent Owen from buying it).

Speaking of Owen, he's none too pleased that Stephen has been spreading lies about him to Jenny which caused Jenny to break up with Owen.

Jenny's none too pleased either by Stephen's lies which is a double whammy for the smitten serial killer as Stevie rather fancies Jenny who points out that it's not on since Stephen is getting married to Elaine. Thus, in Steverino's mind, getting rid of Elaine will be like killing two birds with one stone (so to speak).

Elsewhere, Adam finally learns the truth about Sarah's legover exploits with Damon. Adam busts into the opening night of the Bistro's late night festivities to confront Damon (not a good omen for the late night licence). Needless to say, Adam is none too chuffed but Sarah is contrite and wants to save their marriage. Will they stay together or separate? Hard to say, but the presence of Damon on the Street won't make things easy.

Aggie and Ed continue their charade with their poncy, pretentious friends, Yvette and Patrick. Aggie borrows Tim and Sally's lovely abode for a dinner party and then Aggie gets roped into bidding on an expensive outhouse (er, I mean garden house) which Aggie can't afford. Later on, Yvette has a private meeting with Dee Dee and confesses that she and Patrick have some financial problems of their own - so it seems like the two couples are on a level playing field.

Steve and Tracy are continuing steps along the road to liquidating their assets into order to pay the legal costs for their court battle with Aaron's Dad.  This means Steve plans to sell his share of Streetcars and Tracy plans to sell the florist and the flat (where Rev Billy, Paul and Summer live). Aaron is shocked to learn about these developments but doesn't appear ready to back down and admit his guilt.

Max is trying to convince Bec (Gav's ex-girlfriend) to talk to Gav but she's not keen. Seems she's more keen on getting to know Max. This might not go so well once Bec discovers Max's history of being involved with white supremacists.

Brian and Isabella are spending late evenings together (playing cards, apparently) and getting rather chummy. Isabella tells Rita that she's too old to work in the Kabin.

And now for a few lines from the week that was:

Stephen to Sarah and Sally:
"I had my own band in college in Toronto"
(The Killers?)

Rita to Isabella after she says Rita's too old to work in the Kabin:
"I quit and what's that in Italian"
(ho smesso!)

Elaine to Stephen:
"Where would I be without you"-
(alive?)

Harry to Sarah and Adam:
"I don't want a new Daddy"
(especially not Damon)

Daisy takes a magazine quiz:
"Am I a horrible person?"
(only if the magazine says so)

Sally to Tim before the Bailey's dinner:
"Why are you wearing my dressing gown?"
(because it looks good on me?)

Adam quizzes Sarah about her relationship with Damon:
"So it was a kiss and nothing more?"

Gail has her suspicions about Sarah's romance with Damon:
"When you're a people person, you get an instinct for this sort of thing"
(what if you're not a people person?)

Yvette to Ed:
"I need to get back to my pied a terre"
(you mean backstreet B&B?)

Sally to Tim re: Yvette:
"Some people are so full of themselves"
(yes, but what about Yvette?)

Sally to Tim who thinks she's wearing an anorak without sleeves:
"This is a gilet, Tim"
(French for 'sleeveless anorak')

Tim fixes the Underworld van while Stephen looks on:
"He just stood there stating the obvious looking all Canadian"
(that's one of our best things)

Sarah to Adam:
"Cheating is not the only way to kill a marriage"
(just ask Stephen)

Stephen yells at Michael after being informed that the move to the new flat is finished:
"What time's convenient for the medal ceremony?"
(whenever you finish trashing the factory)

Elaine to Stephen in anticipation of an amourous evening:
"Maybe we should give 'Rosemary and Thyme' a miss?"
(never a good idea)

Stephen's replacement pills to hasten the demise of Elaine:
"Caffeine Force"
(side effects include: life insurance policy claims)

***
Well, affable aficionados, so ends another week. Stephen seems to be moving ahead with his plan to cash in on the life insurance policy on poor Elaine so he can buy Carla's share of the factory and woo the fair Jenny. Will it work? One can only wonder. Thanks so much for visiting with us here at the Hip. So nice to have your company and do have a great week. Cheers!
