Coronation Street Catch Up: the Scotch egg dressed as a builder edition

your one-stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Stand aside Meghan Markle, Gemma is pregnant. She has broken up with Chesney and leaves Rita's to go and live with her mythical mother who turns out to be a no-show at their rendez-vous in the park - which is no surprise to Paul. Although Chesney finds Gemma and pleads with her to come back and live with him, Gemma declines and winds up back at Reet's

As for Peter Barlow, he has relapsed, takes in a quick AA meeting and then is swiftly dispatched to an expensive private rehab funded through the generosity of Ken's current main squeeze: Claudia.

On the health and well being front, it turns out that Tim has been cheating on his diet and Sally finds out during a dinner for guests featuring an assortment of healthy choices. The two resolve their differences and the diet is back on.

New flash: Freda (Emily Bishop's niece) is back and in Norris' house much to the chagrin of Mary. Mary wants a divorce from her marriage of convenience with Norris and Freda brings word back from Mr. Cole (a "Cole-porter", if you will). "Yes" is the answer but where exactly is Norris? And what's with the urn on the mantle?

Jan, the apparently irresistible Polish builder (must be the ponytail, I guess) extricates himself from the romantic clutches of Mary with a lie and then tries to make amends. Seems that Moira is also warm for his form and, judging from Eileen's sidelong glances, I suspect the she is also after his affections (of course, next to Phelan, any non-serial killer would look good).

And things are heating up on the roof collapse investigation. Toyah finds a copy of the top secret investigation report under Nick's mattress (just a little light bedtime reading, one assumes). Nick takes the initiative and brings it (the report, not the mattress) to the police. He says he has no idea how it got there. Toyah remains deeply suspicious as does Imran. Even Leanne has her doubts about Nick.

And now for some lines from the week that was:

Sally unveils her healthy breakfast cereal made with nuts and grains:
"Granula"
(Luvely!)

Leanne to Tracy:
"I'd rather be an ex prossie than an ex killer"
(does one have to choose?)

Mary recounts her prophetic dream to Tracy:
"The Scotch egg was dressed as a builder!"
(and was that Steve dressed a sausage roll?)

***
Well, Corrie Collaborators, so ends another week. That Nick is turning out to be a bit of an evil non-genius. He's even bringing the hammer down on David. Ah well. Thanks for your comments and thanks as always for stopping by. Have a great long weekend and all the best!
