Coronation Street Catch Up: the Soggy Dog edition

your one-stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Both Gary and Ches are under a lot of stress dealing with horrific situations.

For Gary, it's loan shark Rick who beats him up and then takes his equipment, materials and van leaving Gary with nothing but cuts and bruises. For Chesney, it's even worse as he endures a caravan holiday with Gemma.

Gary does manage to retrieve Alex's passport and bank book and alerts Cathy to the fact that Alex has borrowed money from Rick. Gary then faces a worried Sarah and has no choice but to start telling the truth.

Meanwhile, over at the caravan camp site, it's pouring rain and the car is stuck in the mud as Gemma plays poker with Joseph who just wants to go home. Finally Gemma goes in search of rain gear only to get bladdered with the cast of Cocoon at a pub appropriately called the Soggy Dog and then gets trapped in the wrong caravan and transported miles away (don't worry, she makes it back).

This latest episode makes Chesney wonder if he and Gemma are destined to be a couple. Good question.

On the Underworld dossier, Wayne and Imran are at odds as Imran keeps needling Wayne and someone steals a copy of Wayne's report from his car (Wayne supsects Imran). Imran gets the impression, during questioning by the police, that sabotage may have caused the factory roof collapse. Imran wonders if it's Nick and Sarah wonders if Gary might be involved. Carla, meanwhile, is still missing.

Sinead's family would prefer a religious ceremony as opposed to a naming ceremony for baby Bertie so there will be both. Abi appears to need her GCEs to get a job and Sally tries to enlist Brian's help. Sally also tries to force Tim to take his heart health seriously which means more yummy kale and mung bean stew... and fewer bickies at the Streetcars office.

Jan is the latest person to move into Eileen's as a lodger and helps Seb set up a handyman business.

And now for a few lines from the week that was:

Evelyn takes a dim view of Toyah's almond milk:
"Might as well call it nut juice"
(Nothing personal)

Gail's back and her flight was on time:
"Fortunately I wasn't delayed by a drone"
(that's because she was on the plane)

Abi notices Gemma and Ches' caravan:
"I thought it was a porto loo"
(that would be an upgrade)

Gail to Sarah re: Gary's mysterious activities
"He could be selling vacuum cleaners for all we know"
(either way the situation sucks)

David to Nick, after Nick decides to voluntarily tell the police about Underworld's cooked books:
"I'm in business with an idiot"
(Maybe you should promote the weasel to partner)

Beth's suggestion for a recitation at the naming ceremony:
"There was a young man from Venus... "
(probably more suited to a bris)

Well, fellow Street savants, so ends another week. Gemma and Ches' holiday horror takes centre stage while Gary is walking around the street sporting assorted cuts and bruises after getting a beating from Rick. Oh well, there's always next week. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
