Coronation Street Catch Up: the 'What happens in Vegas' edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

If I ever move to Coronation Street, I'm going to open a pregnancy test shop. I think I could make a fortune. One of  my regular customers would be Maria who, as it happens, has discovered she is pregnant (again). She and Gary Windass are the proud parents-to-be of a baby loan shark.

Ali tries to alert Maria to the fact that Gary is a loan shark thug, but Gary convinces the gullible Maria that he is making a fortune by selling large volumes of tat with big profit margins. Like a poor man's Ikea... with threats of physical violence.

Elsewhere, Geoff and Yasmeen return from Vegas with a surprise: they're married. Nothing unites Corrie watchers like our collective dislike of Gaslight Geoff. His psychological abuse of Yasmeen continues to make us cringe. Alya's not too keen on him either as Geoff continues to drive a wedge between her and Yasmeen

Funny you should mention Vegas, because Geoff's son (Tim) also went to Vegas and also got married and then neglected to mention it when he got married to Sally. So, he's a bigamist - unless he can prove that the marriage wasn't consummated (i.e. "sans legover" in legal terms) so he's off to find his first wife (not Sally) to try and undo the problem.

Daniel is not doing well. He is refusing help from Ken and the others, watching videos of Sinead, drinking and feeling sorry for himself. To make matters worse, he gets hits by a car. Hopefully, he's OK.

Robert gets kicked out of the Bistro kitchen by Michelle who doesn't want him there. Rita finds herself quite alone as Christmas approaches and it seems even Norris is too busy to keep her company.

Bernie wants to entrap Kel by pretending to be a young boy and connecting with him over the Internet.

And now for a few lines from the week that was:

Sarah tells Ali the baby news:
"Gary got Maria up the duff"
(congratulations!)

Tim tells Imram who married him in Vegas:
"He was a Sammy Davis Jr. lookalike"
(or maybe it was actually Sammy Davis Jr.?)

Yasmeen tells Sally about the shows in Vegas:
"I wanted to see Menopause: the Musical"
(I suppose Geoff the Dictator said "no")

Sally to Yasmeen:
"So this makes you my step mother in law"
(welcome to the family)

Well, Weatherfield Well-wishers, so ends another week and almost another year on the Street. Christmas is always a bittersweet time of year and 2019 is no exception with pregnancies, betrayals and even a cheesy Christmas wonderland fair. My Xmas wish? That Mavis calls up Rita and invites Rita to stay at her B&B in the Lake District. Wouldn't that be nice?

Thanks so much for your good company throughout the year. Have a great week and a Merry Christmas!

BTW, sorry, I made a mistake in my Sally quote:Yasmeen becomes her step mother-in-law, NOT sister-in-law as I first wrote. My bad.
