Coronation Street Catch Up: the YORP (Youth Outreach Program) edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

There's good news and bad news.

When last we left off, Yasmeen had been pushed over the edge and finally asserted herself. She did that by attacking Geoff with a wine bottle.

We have since learned that Geoff is in hospital and recovering (which goes to show that wine can be bad for your health). On the other hand, Yasmeen has been arrested and charged with attempted murder (that's the bad news).

Yasmeen, despite the best efforts of her lawyer (Imran), is looking more and more like the guilty party following questioning by the police and the cock and bull story which Geoff is doling out to Tim, Sally, the coppers and anyone else in earshot of his hospital bed.

Alya rushes back from Spain when she hears the news and confronts the police, imploring them to realize that Yasmeen is the victim. To no avail. Tim is shocked and, naive numpty that he is, believes his dear old Dad. Sally is not so sure.

But what about Geoff's past transgressions and police record? Geoff's got an answer for everything and it doesn't deter the cops from charging Yasmeen who is in shock.

Elsewhere Sarah is back and not pleased that Adam still seems preoccupied with Gary Windass and his shady dealings.

Speaking of Gary, he continues to intercede on Kelly's behalf and encourages Rev. Billy and Paul to let her stay with them. Since no-one except Sharon knows that Gary had an ugly "turf war" with Kelly's Dad (by which I mean he whacked Rick and covered the body with turf), Gary's level of interest seems a bit odd to all, including Maria.

Max makes a nice speech to the Youth Outreach Program (YORP not YOP) but David falls asleep and misses the event. He's preoccupied with Shona. Nina slugs an obnoxious boy who is slagging off Asha, gives her an uplifting speech and sends her a picture.

And now I'm afraid it's slim pickings for lines of the week:

Yasmeen to the police dispatcher:
"I just killed my husband"
(it was alcohol related. He got conked with a wine bottle)

Alya to the police re: Geoff:
"He's evil"
(and a terrible magician too)

Police officer gives Yasmeen an update on Geoff's condition:
"He's got a nasty wound on his neck and a concussion"
(the rest of him is nothing to write home about either)

Gail is chagrined by the fact that everyone is engrossed in video activity:
"Too many people staring at screens in this house"
(It's either that or listen to Gail's mithering)

***
Well, pandemic punters, so ends another week and poor, befuddled Yasmeen is in jail while Geoff spins his lies to the police. Seems that the folks on the Street are somewhat divided over what happened and why.

Let's hope that the police investigation turns up some evidence in support of Yasmeen. I couldn't bear to see her follow in the footsteps of Abi, Sally, Deirdre and all the other Corrie women who have served time. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week. Cheers!
