Coronation Street Catch Up: the chicken jealousy edition

your one-stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Alya is doing her best to coax the truth out of Yasmeen but it's not easy.

Geoff's insidious control tactics have left their mark and Yasmeen is reluctant to reveal the details of her horrible life with the malicious magician. However, after a prison visit where Yasmeen finally tells Alya about Geoff's dictatorial cleaning regime and the untimely death and subsequent eating of Charlotte Brontë (the chicken, not the 19th-century writer and author of Jane Eyre), Alya finally manages to convince her grandmother to reflect on the reality of life with Geoff.

As a result, Yasmeen pleads 'not guilty' in court and is remanded until her trial. BTW, when did Paula the lawyer join Yasmeen's legal team?

Meanwhile, Geoff is being his annoying self chez Sally and Tim's. Tim remains steadfast in his support for dear old Dad while Sally is much less convinced. She makes it clear that she is not comfortable having Geoff in the home and wants Tim to get rid. Pronto.

Gary is getting quite antsy about the situation with Kelly. As you may recall, Gary had a little gentleman's disagreement with Rick, el loan sharko, and things got a little heated which resulted in Rick getting a premature burial in the woods. Afterwards, guilty Gary continued to pay for Rick's daughter's (Kelly) education by sending money to Kelly's Mom, Laura. However, Laura is not doing her part and has disappeared leaving Kelly in a public school (ouch!) and living with Rev. Billy and Paul and Summer.

With ex-loan shark employee Sharon's help, Gary tracks down the missing Laura and tells her to get her act together and take Kelly back home. Of course, neither Kelly nor Laura know that Rick is no longer among the living, but has gone to that big extortion racket in the sky. To complicate matters, Adam is determined to suss out Gary's fishy activity and chats up Laura to get info.

Aadi and Asha seem to be adjusting to life at posh Oakhill private school although Dev's now a little squeezed for cash (Oakhill can be quite pricey - just ask Sally).

And now for a few lines from the very short week that was:

After a very long pause in court, Yasmeen finally enters her plea:
"Not guilty"
(thank goodness)

Geoff feigns concern for Yasmeen:
"I don't want to seem uncaring even though she did try to kill me"
(hmm. I wonder why?)

Yasmeen tries to explain Geoff to Alya:
"He's complex, insecure"
(some of the best sociopaths are complex and insecure)

Yasmeen again to Alya:
"He's known pain too"
(yes, he was quite shocked by the price of escorts)

Alya to Yasmeen:
"Geoff was jealous of a chicken?"
(maybe the chicken egged him on?)

***
Well, Corrie campaneros, so ends another short week. I hope we're back to our normal ration of three episodes this week. Looks like Geoff is rapidly losing support and sympathy on the Street but I don't know about Yasmeen's chances in court. Seems the odds are stacked against her unless some good evidence comes to light. Fingers crossed. Thanks for stopping by and do have a great week. Cheers!
