Coronation Street Catch Up: the New Todd edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Meet the new Todd (not the same as the old Todd). He's kinda the New Coke of Corrie characters.

Whether it's old Todd or new Todd, it amounts to the same thing: trouble for Eileen. She's back only to discover that Todd is alive and well and being pursued by a dangerous thug named Mick. The solution? The fake death ploy (once used by one of Gail's former husbands).

Of course, the fake death ploy requires that Eileen falsely identify a dead missing person as Todd. Will she do it to protect her no-good son?

On the brighter side, Tim and Sally finally get wed and Abi gives them a great wedding gift by locking Geoff in the conservatory so he can't gatecrash. Too bad she didn't also burn his clothes, but you can't have everything.

At Weatherfield Hospital, Leanne insists on meeting Nick's newly-discovered biological son. She then tells Nick to get lost and then tells him to come back. Nick does. Tracy doesn't want to sell her flower shop to finance an expensive experimental treatment for Oliver which the doctors agree will not work. Steve and Leanne are taking the hospital to court.

Shona has moved back to David's house where Gail is in standby mithering mode. Dev gets robbed and Johnny suspects his oily ex-pal, Scott. Turns out Scott is innocent but has a plan to rip off his new employer: Ray Crosby.

Maria and Gary are back from their honeymoon and Maria has plans to buy the barber shop except that Gary is strapped for cash (seems no-one is buying dog-eared tat from his shop these days).

And now for a few lines from the week that was:

David to Gail:
"Don't say 'new normal'"
(it's a bit of a cliché)

Eileen to Todd:
"I'm glad you're not dead"
(but you're not quite the same somehow)

Scott to Johnny re: plans to rob Ray:
"I'm planning to do him over. Low risk. High yield."
(sounds like my investment advisor talking)

Johnny to Jenny who's trying to cheer up Emma with wine tasting:
"Getting bladdered is not the answer"
(That's news to me. I thought getting bladdered was always the answer)

Tim to Sally re: keeping Geoff away from the wedding:
"I'll tell him we want to get hitched without a hitch"
(hmm. there could be a hitch)

Gail meets Nick's biological son:
"You can call me Gail if you want to"
(he may come up with another name)

Gail has a touching wedding message for Sally:
"You are the Thelma to my Louise"
(Didn't they both die?)

***

Well, worthy Weatherfielders, so ends another week. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
