your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...
Word of advice: if you're sick, don't go to Weatherfield General Hospital.
I think they must be at 100% capacity (or more) with David and Daisy currently occupying beds and, of course, there's Kevin now receiving treatment for cancer. If and when Julie decides to stay, I guess she'll also be receiving treatment for cancer at WGH.
Yes, there's definitely not much joy on the Street these days.
David tries to plan his death in order to unlock life insurance money for Shona to pay off Harvey and release his family from Harvey's campaign of threats and harm to the Platt family. Desperate Dave convinces Andy to do the deed by doing a hit-and-run on David at an appointed time.
David leaves behind a note for Shona, gets plastered, and heads out into the Street as Andy speeds towards him but, whoops, Daisy happens to run out at exactly the same time and David is forced to push her out of the way as the car arrives.
Both Daisy and David are rushed to hospital (thank goodness Asha is a paramedic). David is badly injured but alive. Daisy is okay but her baby did not survive the hit-and-run.
Afterwards Sarah discovers David's suicide note and shares it with Nick. They decide not to tell Shona about David's suicide plan. The fact that Max has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison (and thus subject to Harvey's vengeance in jail) only added to David's desperation before he tried to end his life.
Speaking of jail, poor Dylan is stuck in juvie for six months and dealing with all manner of young hoodlums inside. Sean is in a constant state of worry about his son's well being.
Meanwhile, in another hospital room at Weatherfield General, Daisy is dealing with the traumatic loss of her child and the fallout from the fact that Daniel now knows he is not the father of the child (Kit is). It was a spiteful Jenny who (after making a drunken pass) hinted at the truth to Kit who subsequently prodded Daniel into demanding that Daisy prove the baby's paternity.
In non-medical news, Cassie is persona non grata after everyone finds out she was drugging poor Ken. Hope is Cassie's only ally (with friends like that, etc. etc) but Ty is not inclined to forgive Cassie and the rest of the Street's denizens are appalled.
Sally hosts a dinner party in order to get Tim and Kevin to forgive and forget their disagreement. She invites Abi, Kev, Debbie and Ronnie. The dinner backfires as Kev doesn't like the way Abi and Ronnie are getting along and he's jealous - especially as he has just had a testicle removed (surgically, I hasten to add) and is now being treated for cancer.
Meanwhile Julie continues to refuse to tell Eileen about her cancer diagnosis even though George and Todd urge her to do so. And finally, it seems that Yasmeen has been offered a job in London which would mean leaving Speed Dal and Weatherfield. At the same time, Alya has quit her job with her law firm and is unemployed.
And now for a few lines from the week that was:
Tracy to Cassie:
"You hateful cow"
(fair comment)
Tracy to Cassie again:
"Trash does eventually take itself out"
(not at my house, unfortunately)
Harvey's thugs to David:
"The easy way or the hard way - you decide"
(I pick the easy way)
Shona to David re: his life of crime:
"Maybe there's a family wing at the prison?"
(don't give HM Correctional Services any ideas)
Shona to David:
"I love you David but you're an absolute idiot"
(she's right about the "absolute idiot" part)
Sally to Ronnie at her dinner party:
"There'll be no swinging in here tonight"
(Thank goodness! We've seen enough disasters this week!)
***
Well, fellow Harvey Haters, so ends another week. Seems that most (if not all) story lines seem to wind up at Weatherfield General Hospital these days. Hopefully there will be some more light-hearted plots in the future. One can only hope. Thanks so much for dropping by and have a great week!
