Coronation Street Catch Up: the favourite pudding edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

OK, OK Rob, put the gun down!
I'll tell you what my favourite pudding is: it's crème brûlée, slightly chilled (not too much vanilla flavour). Oh, and I'll take a decaf cappuccino with that.

...but I'm not eating that canned spaghetti.

Yes, a seriously ill Rob was holed up at the Barlow's house (good job Ken was away in the Lake District). He took Tracy hostage (wasn't too difficult). Tracy invites Carla over and she becomes hostage number two. Then super(bad) cop Lisa decides to take matters into her own hands and, in short order, manages to make herself into another hostage (where's Scott and/or Bailey when you need them?)

Tracy escapes and summons the police (Kit, who else?). The tactical team arrive and surround the outhouse... er I mean house. A shot is fired and the police arrive and everyone is safe - except for Betsy who was outside the back of the house and got a bullet in the shoulder.

Rob (you'll be glad to know) is alive and resting comfortably in his usual bed at Weatherfield General Hospital. He's got a touch of sepsis but nothing to worry about. He'll soon be back to his snarling self.

Betsy, on the other hand, has nerve damage in her arm which may have serious consequences.

Lisa initially blames Carla for all the trouble Rob has caused and for Betsy's injury. She breaks up with Carla but, with Betsy's encouragement, makes up with Carla and the couple are back together.

Carla meanwhile is getting impatient with Jenny because Jenny and Daisy still owe her the money they stole. Daisy's initial plan (suggested by Daniel) was to use Bertie's trust fund to pay off the debt to Carla. That plan has fallen through. Jenny gets a nice windfall of 60k which she offers to Carla as partial payment but Carla wants the whole enchilada... and now.

While chatting with the bank about a loan, Jenny manages to lose Bertie (who is later found by Steve and Cassie) and gets an earful from Daisy.

Speaking of Steve and Cassie, it seems that they have kissed (and more) and made up. To commemorate their reunification, they have a celebratory legover in Sally's house and plan for some hot-tub hi-jinks but that is interrupted when they rescue Bertie from the hot-tub. Of course, explaining why they were both wearing bathrobes afterwards is a little trickier.

Meanwhile, Deb is called to Jack's school because Jack was suspended for fighting. Debbie smooths things over with the school head and the two decide not to tell Kevin (who is returning from a holiday).

Julie tries to play matchmaker with Todd and the new hunk in town, Theo (BTW, who eats dinner in a tank top? Not that I'm complaining). Theo gets 'shirty' and insists he's not gay. Could Julie's gaydar be wrong?  It seems unlikely since Todd discovers Theo on his dating app.

And now for a few lines from the week that was:

Cassie to Steve:
"Everyone hates me"
(only because you lied, stole and tried to kill an octogenarian)

Tim quotes Greek wisdom to Steve:
"Don't argue with Aristotle"
(and, no, that's not the name of the new manager at Freshco)

Steve to Cassie:
"You did make Ken happy"
(...before you tried to kill him)

Julie to Todd:
"Mr. Scaffold Man is definitely on my gaydar"
(is that a Google app?)

Lisa to Rob:
"Thanks for the kidney"
(you're welcome?)

Todd re:Theo:
"Funny, friendly, fit, straight"
(well, three out of four isn't bad)

Theo to Julie:
"I'm so sorry to hear about your terminalness"
(aren't you quite the smooth talker)

Rob gets impatient with Carla and Lisa:
"Everyone's got a favourite pudding!"
(make mine Jello, stat!)

Rob to Carla:
"That was a really stupid thing to do"
(eating expired spaghetti-o's?)

***
Well, fellow Weatherfield witnesses, so ends another week with Carla safe, Betsy in hospital and Rob occupying his usual private room. Hope he gets a nice pudding and some canned spaghetti while he's recuperating.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Looks like we're coming up to that time of year (hockey playoffs) so be prepared for CBC schedule changes in the weeks ahead. Till then, all the best and have a great week!
