Coronation Street Catch Up: the badly dressed cop edition

your one-stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Well, well, well.

The same ace detective that threw Roy Cropper in jail has done it again!
This time the Sherlockian mind of D.S. Lisa Swain has deduced that the most unlikely killer of Theo was none other than... George Shuttleworth?

So George is arrested, grilled by Swain (and her silent colleague) and thrown into jail.

Let's back up a bit.

The body (and hairpiece) of Theo was discovered by Betsy. Theo had fallen from a scaffolding that was conveniently erected around Todd's flat (for easy gaslighting access).  May he rest in peace (piece?) etc. etc. However, a subsequent autopsy revealed that Theo died from a blow by someone, hence the murder investigation.

Is there anyone at the Weatherfield Police Station who is not, in some way, connected to the deceased?

Apparently not. So over to Lisa and Kit to begin interviewing people they know including George and then Christina, who does an excellent job of making George look like a deranged killer before politely asking for a lawyer.

Meanwhile, on the Street, everyone is worried about George including Summer who is highly stressed. Then there's Gary who seems unnaturally cool as a proverbial cucumber as he deletes incriminating video footage of him smashing up Theo's van.

Speaking of the Weathy Cop Station, those police interview rooms have never been busier! You probably need to book at least a week in advance to reserve one. Right now there's Lisa grilling George and there's Kit grilling David.

Ah yes, David.  Davey finally confesses that he almost had a horizontal mambo with his sister-in-law but stopped when he realized that it was... his sister-in-law. Well spotted, David!

David finally confesses the awkward experience to Shona who goes off on one. She insists that David go to the police and confess everything because Jodie is missing and Shona fears for her safety - especially after two beefy thugs showed up to intimidate Jodie and politely ask for the return of their USB drive.

What Shona doesn't know is that it was Jodie who's the conked Sarah on the head and then ran off leaving Sarah unconscious on the floor of the Platt house (Sarah's okay BTW).

Where could Jodie be? Her usual place actually, on the swings in the precinct.

Over at the Rovers, Toyah, Leanne and Eva hatch a plan to kidnap Megan, force her to confess to her crimes, and finally get proof of her nefarious grooming activities.

Does it work?
Of course not.

But Megan does manage to get into a confrontation with Maggie which ends with Maggie in Weatherfield General Hospital (Corrie Wing, I guess) with a heart episode but is soon discharged.

However, Maggie has other non-health related problems.

It seems that's Ben's ex-wife (Melanie) wants Maggie to convince Ben to let Will go to Scotland with her - or else Melanie will reveal to all that Maggie pushed her husband down the stairs. Melanie knows this because her son (Finlay - brother to Ollie and Will)) witnessed the event and told Melanie.

Taking up another bed in the Coronation Street Wing of Weathy General is Carl. Carl is seriously injured (technical term: auto corpus crushitis) and Debbie rushes to his side to comfort him. Only later does Ronnie reveal that he drove Carl to the hospital but didn't stick around to bring him into the ER (well, hospital parking is sooo expensive these days). But who is responsible for Carl's injuries?

And now for a few lines from the week that was:

George to D.S. Swain:
"I've been stitched up like a kipper here"
(sounds fishy)

David explains how he mistakenly jumped into bed with Jodie:
"Hot sister-in-law, blah, blah, blah"
(say no more)

Christina to Swain and Kit re: Theo:
"He was a vile specimen"
(no further comment)

Christina to Swain after she realizes she's digging a hole:
"I think I will have that solicitor"
(I'm sorry, Adam's busy in the other interview room)

Megan to Eva after being kidnapped by Eva, Toyah and Leanne:
"What exactly is the plan Eva?"
(Plan? Oops, didn't realize she needed a plan)

Megan to the three sisters:
"Good cop. Bad cop. Badly dressed cop"
(I guess a trip to 'Winners' wouldn't hurt)

Theo threatens Summer:
"I guess Summer had to end sometime"
(Please specify which Summer)

Carl to Debbie:
"This is karma. I deserve this"
(that's generally how karma works)

***
Well, fellow Swain Skeptics, so ends another week. The murder investigation will no doubt continue for a long time as Swain and Kit interview all the suspects who hated Theo (i.e. the whole Street). Thanks so much for spending time here at the Hip. Have a great week.
