your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...
The good news: Bertie may have a new Mum.
The bad news: It could be Jodie (yikes!)
Yes, it seems that Daniel has gone from the frying pan to the fire (the frying pan being Megan and the fire being Jodie). Daniel is wracked with self-loathing after the end of his relationship with Megan and he pretends to go to the Lake District (to get his head together). Instead, Daniel retreats to his flat and gets bladdered while his octogenerian Dad looks after Bertie.
Adding to Daniel's woes is the fact that he is suspended from school after his outburst directed at Hope (a budding Wordsworth) who composes an uncomplimentary poem about Daniel.
Daniel's self-indulgent mini break is rudely interrupted by Jodie who broke into Ken's house and found the spare key to Daniel's flat. Daniel is outraged by Jodie's intrusion but the odd couple soon discover that they have much in common (Daniel's failed relationship and Jodie's imagined relationship). Daniel lets Jodie hang round (but no "bedroom stuff"- or so they say). Jodie has nowhere else to go as she can't stay at Shona and David's place any longer.
Elsewhere, thank goodness for roadworks!
Because of lengthy construction delays, Tim has a chance to chat with Will as he drives Will to the train station. Will is supposed to be on his way to visit his Mum in Scotland. However, Tim (who also experienced a grooming situation when he was a young teen) has plenty of time to share his experience and prompts Will to think twice about his decision to run away with Megan to Paris.
Instead of dropping Will at the train station, Tim drives Will to the police station at which point Will is finally ready to tell the truth about his relationship with Megan. He is greeted with open arms by his family.
The experience prompts Tim to finally confront his own groomer (Tricia). Tricia doesn't acknowledge what she did, but Tim is glad to have the chance to express his feelings and Sally is supportive.
And Megan?
Well, she is intercepted by police at the airport with a single boarding pass for a flight to Paris and 2,000 pounds in cash (that Will stole from the Rovers safe and gave to Megan). After her return to the Weatherfield cop shop, Megan is charged and held in custody (as a flight risk). Looks like Megan might soon be bunking with Lou in prison.
Memo to George: Next time please hold your secret support group meeting somewhere where Todd won't burst in suddenly. George is trying to help Todd in the wake of Theo's murder but it doesn't work out. However, we learn that Todd did ask Gary to warn off Theo. Gary was happy to oblige and smashed up Theo's van. Now Kit thinks Gary is a person of interest in the investigation and gets a search warrant for Gary's builders yard.
One positive moment for Todd was the appearance of Theo's wife (Danielle) who finally shared her experience of Theo's controlling behaviour. Todd is grateful to her for her honesty and her support.
Kit is also investigating the assault of his girlfriend (Sarah) at the Platt house. Is that normal police procedure? Wouldn't it be more appropriate to have an impartial detective handle the case? Just asking. I guess they're short-staffed at the police station as Lisa and Kit (along with that silent police officer) seem to be investigating all the current crimes.
And now for some lines from the week that was:
Ty refers to Daniel's former girlfriend:
"Your pervy bird"
(that would be Megan, I believe)
Sally to Tim:
"I'm not one to blow my own trumpet"
(really? that's news to me)
Hope composes a poem at Daniel's request:
"Mr. Osbourne
must be thick, he was dating a woman who was totally sick"
(at least it rhymes)
Daniel is shocked by Jodie's actions:
"Unbelievable. Like Goldilocks"
(more like Cruella deVille)
Jodie explains her CV to Daniel:
"I was a professional nanny"
(before I was tied up in the back of a van)
Tim to Will:
"How's your French?"
(pas mal)
Jodie to Daniel:
"Not all people should be trusted"
(especially Jodie)
Will to Ben:
"It was one big lie, wasn't it?"
(Yes it was)
***
Well, fellow Will well-wishers, so ends another week. Glad to see some progress (finally) on the Megan case. Great scenes with Will and Tim in the taxi, and with Danielle and Todd. You just can't beat well-written dialogue and superb acting. More please. Thanks for stopping by and do have a great week.
