your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...
So two down, two to go.
Mal gets arrested after deliberately starting a fire in Roy's Caf (more on that later).
And Theo finally gets arrested, but only after a vicious attack on Todd.
That just leaves Carl and Megan who have so far evaded justice.
The main story of the week is the abusive relationship between Todd and Theo. Todd's friends become increasingly concerned and Sarah invites herself into Todd's flat only to have a terrified Todd insist that Sarah hide in the bedroom when Theo arrives. Sarah even seeks out Todd's wife (Danielle) to ask her about Theo's violent behaviour but Danielle remains unsympathetic and non-committal.
Summer also has Theo's number and confronts him when she learns (via hints from Carl) that Theo was responsible for Billy's death. Carl subsequently offers to provide Summer with info on Theo's guilt - for a price (10,000 pounds).
Theo is determined to leave Weatherfield with Todd and re-locate in Belfast. Todd agrees but, the night before their planned departure, he tries to escape only to find the door to the flat locked. Theo angrily confronts Todd and batters him.
It's Sarah who discovers Todd and takes him to the police station (maybe a hospital would have been a better option considering the extent of Todd's injuries - he has a lacerated spleen and internal injuries).
Todd is subsequently interviewed by Lisa and Kit. Meanwhile Gary finds Theo and encourages him (with the help of a large sized wrench) to accompany him to the police station. Theo is then interviewed, proclaims his innocence but is held in a cell. Now the challenge for Lisa and Kit is to find evidence to prove Theo's guilt.
Over at the caf, it seems that Jodie is posting fake negative reviews on Mal's electrician website, As a result, Mal announces that he's heading back to Inverness. Bernie is pleased and relieved but her relief is short-lived when she finds out that Mal sabotaged the electrical system in Roy's caf that resulted in a fire while Roy was asleep.
You'll never guess who rushed in to save Roy.
It was Jodie, of all people, who knew Roy was inside (not away at a bat watching event as everyone thought). Roy is (thank goodness) okay and Carla is quick to take care of him in the aftermath of the fire.
Meanwhile, as Mal tried to scarper, Kit grabbed him and brought him to the police station. Mal says that Kit was responsible for his assault (he previously blamed Bernie and then Dev) but no-one believes him this time - except Lisa who seems to have her suspicions.
As an aside, I just hope that Adam doesn't take on the case of Theo and/or Mal just because he "needs the business". He's already persona non grata on the street because he represents Megan and George's dissatisfied customers.
Over at the undertaker's, there's a scene right out of "It's a Wonderful Life". Just as George is ready to sell his business to the greedy Rupert from RestEasy funerals (slogan: your death is our wealth), a group of satisfied customers shows up to voice their love and support for George and the Shuttleworth name. George is convinced not to sell. But how will he regain his business after the trial?
Ronnie is still trying to protect Debbie from Carl's greed and deception but he recognizes how much Debbie wants to reconnect with her son. On the other hand, when Bernie tells Debbie that Carl tried to sell information abut Billy's death to Summer for 10K, Debbie begins to realize that maybe Carl is a lost cause.
And finally, Eva tries to reconcile the family by inviting everyone to a meal at the Bistro but it doesn't work and Steve is unlucky enough to walk in at just the wrong moment.
And now for a few lines from, the week that was:
Theo to Sarah after he finds her asking Danielle about Theo's past behaviour:
"If you ever go near her or my family again, you'll regret it"
(we're already regretting it)
Summer asks Theo about his apparent resilience after Billy died:
"How did you move on with your life?"
(violence, anger, resentment, the usual)
George to Rupert of RestEasy:
"You are a vulture"
(vultures are nicer)
George to Rupert again:
"Hamsters get better send-offs than RestEasy provides"
(they get buried with their wheel)
Lisa to Todd:
"Nobody deserves to be treated like this"
(Amen)

Well, fellow worried watchers, so ends another week. That was a nerve-wracking week of episodes ending in a terrible ordeal for Todd. Hopefully the police can charge Theo and make the charges stick. Same goes for Mal. Now we turn our attention to Carl. Just when you think he's hit rock bottom, he finds another level. Thanks for spending time here at the Hip and, as always, have a great week.
