your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...
Way to go Gary!
Did you have to tell Theo that Todd was
going away with Sarah? Why didn't you just give him the exact address
and use Google maps to show him the best route?
Anyhoo, despite Gary's loose lips, it seems that Theo is quite content to hang around the Street and threaten all and sundry. He tries to get a pint at the Rovers and is met with a chorus of disdain. Eva even spells it out for him: "You're B-A-R-E-D". Well, close enough, Eva, but maybe stay away from the crossword puzzles.
Theo is not finished yet. He has a little chat with Gary and threatens him. George tells Theo to buzz off. Theo then stops off at the Corner shop to threaten Summer and taunts the poor lass with details of Billy's last moments before Theo sealed Billy's fate by strapping him in the burning bus.
Summer is incensed and decides to make a deal with the devil (aka Carl). Summer will pay Carl 10K if Carl can get Theo locked up (or worse). However Carl seems singularly inept at trying to provoke Theo into a fight. The plan is to get Theo to assault Carl and then have Theo arrested. I'm no mastermind but that seems like a pretty flimsy plan and certainly not worth 10K - more like 10p.
But hold on, Carl is not finished.
After failing to do a deal with Summer, Carl has the good fortune to be assaulted by Ronnie who wants to convince Carl to go away. The ill-advised plan goes awry as Carl now wants Debbie to give him half of the hotel (maybe give him the half with the washrooms and loading dock?), or Carl will finger Ronnie as the perp who assaulted him.
Debbie agrees but changes her mind as she sees that Carl is beyond hope. Carl responds by doing a Keith Moon on his hotel room and trashing the joint.
Over at Casa Carla, the happy-ish couple are busy writing their wedding vows but Carla has writer's block. Still, the show must go on and next on the agenda is the ancient Corrie rite of passage known as the hen-do. Carla's is at the Rovers ('natch) and organized by Sally (also 'natch). Lisa pretends that she has a police-organized hen-do but it's a fib and she's content to stay home until Sally runs into her and drags her over to the Rovers.
Speaking of the Rovers, the Driscolls are upset to learn that the police don't have enough evidence to charge Megan and she is free to go. Will is quite happy and shares the news with Megan as Megan tells him that the plan is to run away to Paris. However it seems that Megan is stringing Will along.
Meanwhile, Leanne finds Will's secret phone and sends a text message to Megan. It seems that the three sisters will now be able to confront Megan. Should be interesting...
And now for a few lines from the week that was:
Mary to Todd after his ordeal:
"You're back where you should be with people who love you"
(hopefully it stays that way)
Carl to Debbie:
"I know I haven't been the best son"
(that's like saying WW2 was a tiff)
"Theo's a nutter"
(I believe that's the medical term)
Carl to Summer:
"I have been told I can be quite annoying at times"
(really?)
Eva tells Theo he's banned from the pub and spells it out:
"B-A-R-E-D"
(and barred too)
"I thought you were smarter than this"
(Nope)
Theo threatens Summer:
"Don't make me bury you too"
(Hey Theo, watch out for Gary... he has burying experience)
Leanne to Toyah:
"What's worse than a mansplainer? A Toyahsplainer"
(a Briansplainer?)
A chorus of punters at the Rovers say it in unison - before Sally can say it:
"Her daughter's a lesbian!"
(we know, we know)
Carl to Debbie:
"I hate to be a scumbag about it"
(Really? It's on your business card)
Debbie to Carl:
"You're just not lovable"
(he's certainly no Labubu)
***
Well, fellow critics of Carl, so ends another week. We're approaching the wedding of Carla and Lisa and I have a feeling that something unexpected will happen before Carla utters her nasal nuptial vow. With three bad people on the loose (Carl, Theo and Megan), surely someone will get their comeuppance? One can only hope. Thanks for stopping by. It's lovely to have you aboard and have a great week.
