Coronation Street Catch Up: the nocturnal enuresis edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Kit has gone to Wales,
Megan's out on bail,
Summer's wedding broach
...is the subject of reproach

Ah yes, the investigation into the murder of Theo continues and the suspects are piling up.

George and Christina discover Summer's private journal and learn that Summer hated Theo and wanted to see him dead (No surprise really. After all Theo killed Billy, then taunted Summer about it). Then the eagle- eyed coppers notice that Summer was wearing a broach that was last seen in Theo's flat - before he died. Summer can't really explain how that happened.

And George claims he saw Summer running away from Theo's flat shortly before Theo was found dead.

One must note that Christina seems pretty convinced that Summer is guilty. George is not so sure but Christina eggs him on. But, hang on, why did Christina lie about her late night drive to pick up Todd? She says she took a detour to buy petrol (gas) but that sounds fishy.

Then there's Gary who seems very shifty whenever Maria (or anyone) asks him about Theo. Oh sure, he smashed up Theo's van and hates bullies and, oh yes, he did once kill a man - but let's not jump to conclusions. After all, he did invite Summer over the builder's yard for a cup of tea and a digestive biscuit.

Meanwhile Kit has gone to Wales (why now in the middle of a murder investigation?) and Sarah is left by herself and not doing too well as she snaps at the Underworld crew, makes mistakes, and seems to be suffering the ill effects of her recent conk on the head (by Jodie).

Speaking of Jodie, she continues to hunker down at Daniel's flat and shows no sign of leaving. On the contrary, she is now messing with Daniel's head by posting vicious lies under the moniker 'Truthteller'. I feel so sorry for Bertie having to return to the flat with those two numbskulls.

Over at the Rovers, it's Ben who's feeling sorry for himself as he finally learns the truth about what happened to his Dad. Maggie confesses that she pushed Poppa Driscoll down the stairs but she insists it was an accident. Ben isn't buying it and he wants Maggie to leave despite the efforts of Eva to reconcile the family.

All this is made worse by the fact that the Driscolls learn that Megan has been released on bail (nice going, Adam!) even though she was intercepted by police at the airport preparing to board a flight to France.

As for poor Sam, he is plagued by hallucinations that he believes are real. He fights with imaginary visions of Will and he is taking very bad advice from an evil incarnation of Roy (another hallucination) who basically tells Sam to trust nobody. Where will it all end?

Oh, and by the way, the Rovers has been restored to its former glory (after Mal's act of arson). How does it look? To paraphrase Pete Townshend, "meet the new caf, same as the old caf".

And now for some lines from the week that was:

Summer to George and Christina:
"What is the correct etiquette when someone accuses you of murder?"
(Pray Sirrah, I doth protest most strongly my innocence)

Sarah explains her erratic behaviour to Carla:
"Maybe I'm sick of being nice"
(give it more time)

Cassie re: Jodie:
"Can't stand people who say 'skill set'"
(how about 'self-starter'?)

Tim to Sally:
"You remind me of a hotpot"
(warm, hearty, and not too much gristle)

Christina reading excerpts from Summer's diary:
"He needs to pay for what he's done"
(and pay for that expensive toupee he allegedly wears)

Eva to Maggie:
"You filled Ben's heads with lies"
(Oops!)

Daniel acts upon Jodie's lies and confronts his family with Bertie's misdiagnosis:
"Nocturnal enuresis"
(come again?)

***
Well, fellow Summer supporters, so ends another week and the murder investigation casts a wide net. Soon everyone on the Street will be a person of interest. I'm surprised Sherlock Swain hasn't questioned Suzie or Bertie or Kirk. Thanks for dropping by and visiting. Lovely to have your company and do have a great week.
