Another Coach's Corner Coronation Street update with Don Cherry

please note this post makes reference to the May 21 episode on CBC

Although the cross-over audience for Coach's Corner and Coronation Street is admittedly small, it won't prevent us from presenting another installment featuring Don Cherry and Ron MacLean... if only they watched Corrie and provided updates on the Coach's Corner segment of Hockey Night in Canada.

RON: Okay. So everyone's talking about Anna Windass and whether or not she should tell Owen the truth. And, let's face it, the consensus is she probably should.

DON: Now wait a minute, wait a minute. Whaddya think would happen if Anna tells Owen about sleeping with that rat. What's his name there, Feelin? Foolin?

RON: Phelan, I believe

DON: Whatever. The point is she shouldn't have done it, but there's nothing she can do about it now.

RON: So you're saying she should not tell Owen the truth?

DON: Listen dum, dum, when I signed with the Hershey Bears, I didn't tell my wife for a year. Why? Because she would have hit the roof, that's why. I just kept schtum until I got called up to the Bruins in '55. Same thing with Bobby Orr. He didn't tell anyone about his knee injuries. You always keep the other team guessing. That's the way to do it.

RON: And what about Rita and Dennis? Good decision by Rita not to take Dennis back?

DON: Absolutely. DON'T ROLL THE CLIP YET. Lookit. Rita married the guy and it didn't work out. Personally I never thought it was a good idea. The guy's a bum.  Nobody's fault. That's just the way it is. It's like Sean Avery when he was playing with the Rangers. Seemed like a good idea but the guy was a disaster. New York was better off without him and so is Rita. That's all there is to it.  Okay, so do I have time to talk about Tim and Sally?

RON: Nope. We'll have to leave that one till next time.

DON: WHAT?

RON: That's Coach's Corner where Rita is sweeter, but Dennis is a menace.

DON: I don't get it.

  1. You may be onto something. This could bring in a whole new audience, although I can't make out in which direction.

  2. Thanks for the nice comments. I'm glad there is a small (some might say minute) audience of Corrie and Coach's Corner watchers out there. All the best.
