Coronation Street Catch Up: the friendship and sexual tension edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

It was a funeral fit for a fussbudget.

Norris certainly had the last word during his memorial service even though it was in the form of a letter read to the congregation.

In his post-mortem missive, Nozzer gave the impression that he and Rita were perpetually on the edge of sexual tension, that he actually wanted Mary to dress up as Princess Leia (a joke) and that Rita went to Claudia (not Audrey) to get her colour done.

It was beyond the pale (and beyond the grave) and certainly put Audrey in a bad mood. Despite the feeble attempts of Gail and Sarah and David, Audrey was definitely out of sorts and things got worse when she backed her car into Rita's auto.

Elsewhere, Max seems to be neglecting his studies in favour of crime as he steals his teacher's wallet. When his teacher (Daniel) accuses Max, David jumps to Max's defence only to later discover that Max did steal the wallet and isn't the least bit sorry. He certainly seems to be a chip off the old block.

Nina decides to take a fashion design course at the local community college and Asha is happy to help by modelling some outfits for photos. Meanwhile, over at the courthouse, Kelly gets some bad news as she is sentenced to life imprisonment with 15 years minimum time to be served, despite Imran's best efforts to mitigate her sentence.

At the same time, Sabeen wants Imran to work with her on an appeal for a big client. Turns out the client is noted scumbag Harvey and Imran flatly refuses to cooperate. On the home front, Toyah is getting suspicious as she learns that Imran deceived her about his whereabouts on the night of the verdict. One wonders if she will find out that he was with Sabeen.

And now, a few of the lines from the week that was:

David gives Audrey a foot spa as a birthday gift and explains the features:
"It's got a corn removal tool"
(a 'David removal tool' would be more handy)

Roy believes Nina is melancholy:
"You are suffering from Weltschmerz"
(I hope it's not contagious)

Audrey is annoyed by Rita and Claudia:
"I'm not sitting here with these geriatric backstabbers"
(yes, see if you can find some young backstabbers)

Rita to Audrey re: Norris:
"I spent more time with him than any of my husbands"
(that would explain the "sexual tension" that Norris mentioned)

Roy reads Norris' letter at the funeral service:
"I hope you're having a lovely day. Don't let the fact that I'm dead spoil it"
(righto!)

Norris writes about working with Rita:
"It can be very difficult steering that steady course between friendship and sexual tension that always exists between man and woman"
(especially when there isn't any)

***
Well, fellow fussbudget fans, Norris has left this mortal coil - not with a whimper, but a bang. Will Rita and Audrey ever recover? Will Mary get her money back for the Princess Leia costume? Only time will tell. Thanks for keeping me company here at the Hip and have a great week.
