Coronation Street Catch Up: the amazing life in Toronto edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Don't you love it when Canada gets a mention on Coronation Street?

The hot topic is Toronto and, while some have reservations (bears, the cold temperature etc.), Leo is still pining for the job he turned down because Jenny was not keen to leave the Rovers for the Great White North. But when Jenny realizes how much it means to Leo, she insists that he take the job, even if it means breaking up with him.

Elsewhere Audrey's Salon has its grand opening to much fanfare. However, in the middle of the festivities, Aud finally reveals to Gail, and the whole family, the truth about her recent suicide attempt. Gail is shocked and upset.  Stephen is rather more upset by the fact that Audrey has changed her mind about putting him in charge of her money.

In fact, Stephen seems to be in serious financial trouble as he is now buying his suits at the charity shop.

At the same time, Stevie keeps pushing Sarah to assert herself at Underworld and challenge Carla's authority.  And, always on the lookout for an opportunity, Stephen manages to charm his way into the backroom of the Rovers where a soused and vulnerable Jenny plants some lippy on him. Leo will not be amused.

Over at Lovebird Central, Aadi and Kelly are planning on getting married, Somewhat predictably, Dev goes nutso when he hears the news. Gary and Maria are not thrilled either. However none of that deters the teenage twosome and they have plans to sneak off to Gretna Green where they can legally get married.

Meanwhile Toyah and her activist buddies are planning to create a ruckus when an environmentally-unfriendly businessman comes to the factory to meet with Carla. And Bernie's semi-evil twin makes an offer which Bernie may not be able to refuse.

And now for a few lines from the week that was:

Jenny to Leo:
"Do you want to go to Canada?"
(only if he can avoid the bears)

Leo tries to convince Jenny to come to Canada:
"We can have an amazing life in Toronto"
(especially if the Blue Jays make the playoffs)

Rita questions Jenny's decision not to go to Canada because of the Rovers:
"Choosing bricks and mortar over love?"
(I'm mortar-fied)

Leo tells Rita that there's no way to convince Jenny to go to Toronto:
"What do you suggest? Drag her to Canada against her will?"
(there's an Air Canada discount for that)

Peter wonders why Carla is smiling
"It's not your natural default expression"
(that's why they call her Carla the Snarler)

Leo to Jenny and Gemma:
"I could be in Toronto right now but instead I'm stuck round here"
(I blame the ArriveCan app)

Audrey confesses her suicide attempt to Gail:
"I tried to check out"
(unfortunately she's not talking about leaving a hotel)

Maria to Gary at Aadi & Kelly's family dinner gathering:
"Apparently these two lovebirds just got secretly engaged"
(congratulations?)

***
Well, Corrie colleagues, so ends another week. Will Aadi and Kelly follow through on their marriage plans? Will Stephen be able to raise some cash for another Al Capone-style suit? I guess we'll find out. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week!
