Coronation Street Catch Up: the retired bloodhound edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

So, it seems there's a Mrs. Spider

At least that's what Spider says. The revelation comes as a surprise (and not a good one) for Toyah who eschews the attentions of her arachnid-named pal in favour of the company of another eco-warrior named Griff.

Under the leadership of Griff, a demonstration is organized in front of Underworld to protest an environmentally-unfriendly businessman. Craig gets hit on the head during the melee. But Griff's not finished yet. He's planning to torch the gas guzzling SUV belonging to Imran's mother, Saira. Toyah, against the advice of Leanne and Spider, is becoming an acolyte of Griff.

The big news is that Leo popped the question to Jenny and she said "yes", so it looks like the happy couple could be heading to Canada shortly. And they won't need to use the ArriveCan app either! The only fly in the ointment is Jenny's ill-advised, pre-wedding proposal, lip lock with Stephen. Will that remain a secret? One can only hope.

Speaking of Stephen, it seems that he too has a wife, Gabrielle, and she wants him to pay back the money he took from her.  Stephen has a plan but it seems that it involves forging Audrey's signature in order to get his hands on her money.

Over at the five-aside soccer match between the Rovers and the Flying Horse, it seems that art is imitating life when James suffers a heart attack during the game. Back in 2021, during the Euro soccer tournament, Danish footballer Christian Eriksen had a similar cardiac event but recovered and eventually returned to play professional football.

However James' doctor is not so sure that James will be able to resume his career.

Alya has not uncovered any new information about Stu's case and it's clear that they need a lawyer to help if they want to find new evidence that might clear Stu's name. Meanwhile Stu is getting harassed by assorted lowlifes.

Kelly and Aadi continue their plans to run off to Gretna Green to get married.

As they both become involved in an amateur theatrical production, Ken and Wendy seem to be getting closer - much to the annoyance of Tracy.

And now for some lines from the week that was:

Leanne to Spider re: the fact that he's married:
"Typical man. Can't keep it in your pants"
(or eco-shorts)

Jenny muses about her Rovers soccer team
"I hate football"
(unusual for a team manager)

Tracy catches Wendy and Ken reading the play script:
"Oi, you slapper! Get back in your box now!"
(nice to see you too)

Tracy thinks Wendy and Ken are getting too chummy:
"Sniffing round my Dad like some retired bloodhound"
(I think she's barking up the wrong tree)

Carla notices Toyah when the protest turns violent
"Here she is: Comrade Battersby"
(da)

Ed is not impressed by the Rovers vs. Flying Horse soccer match:
"And they call it the beautiful game"
(I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder)

Gabrielle bemoans her rocky relationship with Stephen
"One minute it's all sashimi. The next it's all sausage rolls"
(what's wrong with sausage rolls?)

***
Well, fellow followers, so ends another week. Bad news for James. It would have been great to see him excel at Weatherfield County and maybe, eventually, get scouted by a Premier League football club. Alas, it appears that his career might well be over. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great week.
