Coronation Street Catch Up: the French fly mechanism edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Roy putting on his apron is like Superman donning his cape.

It happens when Yasmeen has a panic attack during her lunch event to raise money for victims of domestic violence. Roy comes to the rescue and the event is a success.

However Yasmeen is not happy to learn that Zeedan visited Stu in prison. Zeedan is convinced that Stu may have indeed been the victim of a crooked copper and wrongly imprisoned for murder. Zee asks Adam to apply to see Stu's case files but can't afford the legal fees required.

Audrey has a lovely heart-to-heart with Ken, Rita and Roy and reveals that she tried to kill herself. Thanks to the support of her close friends, Audrey resolves to take her anti-depressants and decides to renovate and re-open her hair salon.

Stephen is not amused as he has been trying in vain to get Audrey to sign papers that would put him in charge of Audrey's trust fund.  Then Sarah discovers that Stephen has not paid a contract worker in Milan for six months. What's going on?

Faye has had it with Craig's mithering and he moves out for a while. Then Faye makes a clumsy pass at Michael (while drinking) but returns to the flat where Craig is waiting. They make up.

Spider is still in the picture after his legover with Toyah. Despite being charged with murder, Toyah seems keen to continue her friendship with her arachnid-named old friend and also plans to continue her eco-warrior activities. Meanwhile Adam is watching the twosome and getting suspicious.

Aaron reveals to Summer that his Dad (an alcoholic) beats him but he makes Summer promise to keep it a secret. Then, before the couple leaves for Barcelona, Summer collapses and they miss their flight. Aaron discovers Summer is not taking her insulin.

And now a few lines from the week that was:

Leanne to Ryan who has just been re-hired by Debbie:
"Don't tell me you've got the hots for her?"

Ryan re: Debbie:
"She's in good nick for her age"
(thanks... I guess)

Debbie explains her financial dilemma to Nick and Leanne
"Not a pot to piddle in"
(I assume that's accounting jargon)

Elaine to Yasmeen re: Stephen
"Very Canadian, that. So intuitive"
(on behalf of the entire country, thanks!)

Billy scores a primo prize for Yasmeen's fundraiser
"two tickets to Stations of the Cross"
(very expensive on Ticketmaster)

Roy weighs in on the evolution of trouser technology:
"French fly mechanism"
(Vive les pantalons!)

Roy to Audrey, Ken and Rita:
"I didn't come here to discuss men's trousers"
(where do you usually go?)

Audrey re: Claudia's insatiable man appetite:
"Even the French fly wouldn't stop her"
(quelle horreur!)

Rita confesses a deep, dark secret:
"I accidentally went to a swingers party... with Norris"
(kinky... but not in a good way)

Leanne to Spider:
"You're not a kid anymore; you're a cliché"
(ouch!)

Paul to Todd:
"What's worse than a serial killer?"
(two serial killers?)

Audrey to Ken and Rita:
"It's so good knowing that I'm not alone"
(Amen to that)

Well, Commonwealth Colleagues, so ends another week. I think Paddington Bear said it best when he tweeted, "Thank you Ma'am, for everything." Thanks for spending some time here at the Hip and all the best.
