Coronation Street Catch Up: the Captain Mansplain edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

There's only one solution to Daisy's problem: she's going to have to kill Crystal

Not literally, of course, (that would be more like Stephen's domain) but virtually. Maybe Crystal gets attacked by a landshark while waxing her toes on the beach in Ibiza? (hey, I'm only trying to help).

Anyway, it's been a tough week for Daisy and even tougher for poor Ryan. Ryan tells Daisy to 'do one' after he overhears her slagging him off as a burden. Then, alone in his flat (someone please call Carla, stat), he falls ill and is eventually rushed to hospital with sepsis. His only ray of hope is his texting relationship with Crystal to whom he declarers his love, via voicemail.

The problem is, of course, that it's not Crystal, it's Daisy pretending to be Crystal. Worse still, Daniel discovers what Daisy has been up to and tells Daisy to stop and tell Ryan the truth. Daisy tries but can't bring herself to break Ryan's heart (and spirit) when he's so sick and vulnerable.

Speaking of Daniel, he continues to try to help Max survive at the youth detention centre with no success. Worse still, Max discovers that David has viewed the confessional video that Max made for Daniel and is upset. David believes that Max has hit rock bottom and convinces Daniel to smuggle a video message from him to Daniel. It seems to help.

Meanwhile Miley isn't keen on being separated from Faye when she and her Dad move to Slough. Miley really wants Faye to be with them so they can be a family although Faye has already committed herself to marrying Craig.

Amy continues to struggle after being raped by Aaron. Amy tries to warn Aaron's current (and old) girlfriend but that backfires when the girlfriend (Mia) complains about Amy to the police. However, after a heart-to heart with Abi, it seems that Abi now understands what Amy is going through and is now seeing Aaron in a new light. Amy decides to write about her experience and then posts it online. Hmm.

Glam grandma Linda has arrived in the Street for the wedding of Gemma and Chesney. She immediately rubs Bernie the wrong way with her posh manners and positive bank balance.

And now for some lines from the week that was:

Miley tries to convince Faye to come with her when she and her Dad move away:
"They have ice cream in Slough"
(it's a new thing)

Linda to Dev:
"I love an occasional kebab"
(as long as there's an antidote nearby)

Bernie to Dev re: his exposition on sedan chairs:
"Thank you Captain Mansplain"
(you're welcome)

Bernie to Gemma re: Linda:
"Where's Lady Snooty?"
(with Lord Snooty, I presume)

Bernie to Ches and Gemma:
"I'm going upstairs to wax my 'stache"
(please alert the Weatherfield Gazette)

Daisy (as Crystal) texts Ryan:
"I was just waxing my toes"
(go on...)

***
Well, fellow Hotpot Honchos, so ends another week. I do hope Ryan gets better and that Daisy finds a gentle way to solve the fake Crystal situation. Not sure that Amy's online post will help but I guess we'll see. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your time here at the Hip. Have a great week!
