your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...
As they always say, when a woman is tired of Weatherfield, she is tired of life.
Just kidding. No-one ever says that, least of all bella Isabella, just arrived from the old country (which one is that?) to visit with distant cousin, Giuseppina, aka Brian, proprietor of La Cabina.
As Isabella savours all the culture and cuisine that Coronation Street has to offer (didn't take long), Brian is entranced and embraces his inner Italian Stallion. The Neapolitan twosome even share a love of model shipbuilding (suspicious?) Mary, on the other hand, is less enthused by the arrival of Signorina Isabella. Mamma Mia!
But the main event of the week is the tense situation between Faye and Craig. It's all kicking off now as Beth gets involved and Gary wants to know why Faye feels beholden to Craig (please, Gary, don't beat up or kill anyone). Gary finally hears the whole story about Faye's misadventure and the death of the old pensioner and how Craig risked his job to get her out of a jam.
Even Tim can see that Faye is torn between staying loyal to Craig or starting a new life with her daughter and Jackson in bucolic Slough. Right now she seems to be leaning toward Slough.
After Eliza's birthday surprise blows up (literally), Sam takes the blame for the science demonstration gone wrong, but it's Hope who's responsible for sabotaging Eliza's birthday celebration. After the fiasco, Sam breaks up with Hope.
Elsewhere, the court battle between Amy's parents and Aaron's Dad is heating up. Steve and Tracy refuse to publish a retraction for Amy's account of her rape and Aaron's Dad is forging ahead with an expensive libel lawsuit. Steve and Tracy are applying for a bank loan and looking at the possibility of selling their businesses. On the plus side, it looks like Ed Bailey will be fixing the Barlow's roof for free.
Things seem to be coming together for Chesney and Gemma's wedding. Of course, much of the wedding is being secretly funded by Glam Gran Linda. Then there's Rita who has graciously agreed to underwrite a combination Hen Do and Stag (Sten Do? Henstag?) at the Rovers. Can't wait.
Paul tries to come to terms with his terminal illness and he's determined to get access to a new drug which could be helpful but he's struggling. More so since he hasn't told anyone about his health issue except Dee Dee.
And now for a few lines from the week that was:
Mary to Bernie at the caf after witnessing Brian's espresso coffee consumption:"Let's just hope your bano is free"
Isabella to Brian re: his tour of interesting sites in Weatherfield:
Isabella recoils at Brian's idea of ordering spagbol at the Bistro:
"Bolognese? The worst kind of fake Italian food"
Mary asks Brian what he is googling:
"Flights to the old country"
(that's no country for old men)
"I took a lover, a local fisherman"
Sam to Hope:
"I think maybe we should have some time apart"
"Don't worry I do not kill your boyfriend in the night"
Mary to Isabella re: Brian's model ship:
"If you're lucky he might unveil his Endeavour"
