Coronation Street Catch Up: the illuminated wedding dress edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Somebody call Pink Floyd and tell them we found their stage light show from the Dark Side of the Moon tour... Gemma's wearing it on her wedding day.

But seriously, Gemma's illuminated wedding dress was just one of the highlights from a busy week. Chesney and Gemma's wedding took place much as expected with many no shows (Kirk, Fiz, Chesney's Mom), some argy bargy (Bernie vs. Linda in a cake fight), and an emotional backdrop as Gemma and Bernie learned the gut-wrenching truth about Paul's terminal condition.

It's been a roller coaster week for Paul. He received a suspended sentence for stealing a car. Billy discovered the truth about his condition. Then, after a lecture from Joseph, Paul decided to attend Gemma's wedding even though he now has problems with one hand and one leg. Still, he managed to walk Gemma up the aisle and Rev. Billy handled the official duties.

Elsewhere Daisy worries about the upcoming trial of her stalker. Things get complicated when Justin's sister shows up at the Rovers and witnesses an argument between Ryan and Daisy. Has she acquired useful intel against Daisy based on her past actions when she broke up Ryan and Alya?

Elsewhere Faye is on her way to Slough with Jackson and daughter Miley. This after an emotional heart-to-heart with Craig who realizes that Faye is torn between leaving and staying but, in her heart-of- hearts, wants to leave.

Roy is not well.  Thanks to Evelyn's persistence, he goes to hospital where the specialist tells him that he needs a stent to alleviate his heart problems. Surgery is scheduled but Roy refuses to tell Nina what's going on.

Over at Eileen's house, Isabella secretly sabotages George's model ship and opens the door for Brian to win second place in the prestigious model shipbuilding Olympics (motto: higher, faster, smaller). Only Mary suspects that Isabella is up to no good. Oh, and by the way, it seems that the Italian Madonna is extending her stay in Weatherfield. Must be la hota-pota at the Rovers which has enticed her to stay. Or is it something more nefarious?

And now for some lines from the week that was:

George retaliates after Brian is accused of sabotaging George's model:
"Your ship is drydocked in my hearse"
(Rest in Pieces)

Tim to Faye:
"It's only Slough. It's not like it's the end of the world"

Todd to Brian:
"George found his maidenhead"
(it was intact)

Mary isn't interested in visiting Italy:
"Napoli. you know, can be ever so sticky"
(especially at the Cinnabon Store)

Roy reminds Evelyn of her disparaging remarks about Freddie the dog:
"You referred to him as a mouse with identity issues"
(but it's nothing personal)

Roy to Evelyn (who is dressed for Gemma's wedding):
"May I say how appropriately dressed you look"
(flattery will get you everywhere... so maybe try some)

Evelyn to Roy re: Cerberus after his... um ..procedure to remove his "dingly danglies":
"He wasn't even interested in Mr. Floppy"
(how did Mr. Floppy feel about that?)

Daniel to Daisy:
"Someone's eaten the veggie moussaka"
(That's the best news we've had all week)

***
Well, fellow wedding watchers, so ends another week. The playoffs are over and we're back to a regular schedule of Coronation Street on CBC (sort of). Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week!
