Coronation Street Catch Up: the Quad Father edition

your one-stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

A week of sad departures, new arrivals and Gail who has left her pad Thai and Thai pad to return to Weatherfield.

The heartbreaking exit of Sinead is poignant. After she passes, Daniel tries to keep it together but it's too much despite the support of the Barlows. He decides to leave with Bertie before the funeral. Beth is still fuming about Daniel and Bethany, made worse when she spies Bethany comforting Daniel.

New arrivals? It had to happen. Gemma and Ches take a ride in a cable car in Wales (what a good idea) and Gemma promptly starts to give birth. She is taken to hospital and the quads are born and doing well. Chesney, the 'Quad Father', decides to propose to Gemma. She says yes.

Gary and Maria seem to be becoming an item. Geoff is now an official owner of Speed Dal (Yuck!) Jade's got that look in her eyes, like she's up to no good. That can only get worse now that Fiz has left to look after her Mom and Ty is left alone to fall prey to Jade's psycho charms - and dartboard.

More good news! Guru Gail is back from Thailand and she's got a whole new Zen approach to dealing with family problems. She rounds up the Platts (including the bearded Nick) and insists that they stick together and support David. Meanwhile David remains in jail and his life just got worse as Josh regains consciousness and tells the cops that David tried to kill him.

And now for a few lines from the week that was:

Gail tells Bethany about her sojourn:
"When I got to Thailand I was lost"
(try turning left at Bangkok)

Tabloid article describes Chesney:
"Kebab Kasanova"
(I prefer 'Souvlaki Seducer')

Geoff scolds Yasmeen for spoiling his surprise:
"Thanks for peeing on my chips"
(eew! what kind of disgusting poutine is that?)

Ty questions Evelyn's dislike of Starfruit:
"How can a fruit be politically correct?"
(by not being a banana)

Ches to Gemma before proposing:
"Shut up and let me do this before I throw up"
(Yes. Save that for afterwards)

Gail to Nick re: her new wardrobe:
"They're Thai fisherman's pants"
(so what's that poor Thai fisherman wearing?)

***

Well Corrie Colleagues, so ends another week. Sad to see Sinead go. I wasn't looking forward to that story but it was exceptionally well done. I hope we can now move on to less sadness and more laughter, but it doesn't look like that's happening anytime soon given David's plight and the arrival of Gemma's four newborns. Ay Carumba! Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.
