Good news for fans.
Corrie has restarted shooting over in the U.K. so we can expect new episodes (filmed in accordance with social distancing etc.) sometime in the future. Perhaps our current ration of three episodes a week will return to a normal schedule later this summer.
In the meantime, in a very timely way, racism happens to come to the forefront of this week's episodes as Edison Bailey finally confronts the nasty racist manager of the Bistro. With the patience of Job, Edison suffers through several days of snide remarks while re-doing work (unnecessarily) for Don, the new Bistro manager.
Michael is appalled at Don's openly racist comments and chastises his Dad for not calling him out, but Edison just wants to finish the job and get paid. However, at the grand re-opening of the Bistro, Ed finally makes a stand and publicly shames Don in front of the assembled crowd (you'd think "handsy" Ray would have learned by now not to have posh receptions at the Bistro - especially since it was recently the scene of sexual harassment accusations against him).
Anyway, Edison's spotlight on the insidious racism which he has endured over a lifetime leads to an interesting discussion at the Rovers as Dev reveals his own examples of racism and others chime in on the issue.
Still on the Baileys, it seems that James is having a hard time dealing with comments about him on social media, not to mention yobs on the Street. He also learns that his team has put him up for transfer. However, at least he and his father have a reconciliation.
Elsewhere, Steve and Leanne continue to worry about Oliver who is suffering from a disease which could be life threatening. As the hospital conducts more tests, Steve gets more frustrated and Leanne has a brief falling out with Nick.
On the bright side, Evelyn and Arthur seems to be getting along very well and Tyrone is amused to find them downstairs having breakfast one morning. David confesses to Craig that he gets a rush out of doing stupid reckless things (not exactly news to us) and Gemma finds her support group helpful as she deals with postpartum depression and is encouraged to make a video blog.
And now for a few lines from the week that was:
Edison to Don:
"When is the right time and place to face up to a racist?"
(there's never been a better time than now)
Edison again re: standing up to racism:
"I am weary. If I give up, then I'm leaving the fight for someone else"
Edison again re: standing up to racism:
"I am weary. If I give up, then I'm leaving the fight for someone else"
(true)
Tyrone discusses racism with Ken:
"Not all dinosaurs are extinct"

"Not all dinosaurs are extinct"
(Some live in Jurassic Bistro)
Dev to Kev:
"There's no reason not to be woke"
Dev to Kev:
"There's no reason not to be woke"
(true but now you have to explain "woke" to Kev)
Kirk to James:
"I'm going to practice Mongolian throat singing up on the Red Rec"
Kirk to James:
"I'm going to practice Mongolian throat singing up on the Red Rec"
(please don't tell the Mongolians)

Well, Corrie conspirators, so ends another week. At last we can see the Baileys developing as robust and defined characters. Now it remains to be seen what happens to the family members. I do hope that James sticks around as I would like to see him succeed as a professional football player and it would be great to see some Weatherfield County footie scenes. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week. Cheers!
