Coronation Street Catch Up: the birthday suit edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Ah, the seducto powers of Peter Barlow. What did Geoff call him? A backstreet James Dean? (Yes, but as backstreet James Deans go, he's one of the best).

My point? (is there ever one? - editor).

It's no surprise that Abi, struggling not to relapse into addiction, finds Peter quite irresistible. Not to mention that she had a fight with Kev and she and Peter already have a quasi-nautical sex history (when he was fixing up his boat). Anyway, long story short, Abi tries it on with Pete. What will happen? And what of Carla, Peter's nasal nymph? She won't like his Romeo rescue act (after all she fell for it).

Elsewhere, the agonizing saga of poor Oliver continues. Leanne refuses to give up hope and contacts a German doctor who offers an experimental treatment. Only snag is that it costs 500,000 pounds. Also, Nick has yet to tell Leanne about his meeting with ex-wife Natasha and the fact that he has a biological son. Emma starts a fundraising drive for Oliver with a silence-a-thon. Shhh.

Over at the sinkhole (no, not Geoff. I'm talking about David's house), Davey decides not to sell his house to Ray's fixer because Shona has decided to move in and likes the house. This puts a crimp in Ray's mysterious plan to swindle David out of his home.

Paul and Billy fall out over the news that Kel's body has been found in the canal. Billy asks if Kel knew anything about it and Paul thinks Billy is accusing him of somehow being involved. Turns out the death was accidental. Honestly, I've never been a big fan of Rev. Billy. He seems to spend an inordinate amount of time interfering and mithering - but, hey, that's just  me.

Meanwhile Daniel and Nicky seem to be seeing each other on a non-paying basis. This is now getting complicated and Adam warns Daniel not to pursue the relationship. And now Beth has found out that Daniel's seeing someone. That's trouble.

Now for a few lines from the week:

Abi to Kev after he voices his love and support for her:
"The luckiest car crash of a human"
(so Peter would be the tow truck?)

Shona wonders what on earth would have caused her to marry David:
"He's weasely, why would I?"
(good point. The weasel thing is hard to overlook)

Kirk to Daniel:
"You're going out with a hooker"
(that Kirk doesn't miss a trick)

Abi to Kev who has second thoughts about accepting her history of addiction:
"I thought you could handle the truth"
(no truth handler, he)

Abi tries it on with Peter Barlow:
"I could think of plenty of other things we could do in our birthday suits"
(but it isn't even your birthday)

Shona to David:
"You want sex?"
(no thanks, I'm trying to cut down)

Adam complains to Daniel about the vermin in his fancy flat:
"I've got discerning mice"
(they only eat brie)

***
Well, pandemic pals, so ends another week. Very hard to watch the sad Oliver story and I don't hold out much hope for this Dr. Schmidt but I could be wrong. I hope Abi stays strong and Peter stays faithful.

Nice to see Corrie returning to its regular time slot in the evening  and with six episodes a week. Thanks for stopping by at the Hip where you don't need a mask and are not obliged to stay six feet away (although some do). All the best and have a great week!
