Coronation Street Catch Up: the annoying and smelly edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Another week of unrelenting heartbreak for Steve and Leanne as they lose their legal battle to keep Oliver alive on a respirator. Leanne is lashing out at everyone around her, especially Nick. And now you can add Steve to that list as he too has reached the gut-wrenching conclusion that there is no hope for Oliver.

Leanne hasn't given up and wants to launch an appeal to the court decision but Steve, while he won't stop the appeal, doesn't support the idea. Of course, Oliver's plight is causing waves of distress among Steve's family, Leanne's family and Nick's family.

Under trying circumstances, it seems like Tracy has undergone a personality transplant and seems quite (dare I say it) likeable. She even takes in stride Leanne's clumsy attempt to seduce Steve.

Elsewhere, Peter and Carla are back but all is not rosy between the sailor and his nasal nymph. Seems that they have more baggage than an Air Canada flight. That includes Peter's womanizing tendency and Carla's miscarriage. Following their latest argument, Peter winds up in an alley facing a menacing hoodlum. Not sure where that's going.

Despite Paul's drunken display in front of the archbishop, Rev Billy gets his promotion. Todd continues to hang around like a bad smell putting the boot in occasionally with a snide quip (where's Mick the gangster when you need him?)

Seems that George the undertaker is more interested in Eileen than Mary. One might be tempted to say ashes to ashes, lust to lust. Michael and Sean have both become involved with a pyramid selling scheme which requires them to sell overpriced cosmetics to people who aren't interested. Is this how Richard Branson got started?

Ray Crosby wants Craig to advise him on Bistro security but Craig accidentally sees Ray's plans for redeveloping Coronation Street.

And now for some lines from the week that was:

Todd's self assessment:
"I'm complex"
(more likely, he has a complex)

Carla to Peter:
"You've always got some other woman at the forefront of your mind"
(and the rear end of his mind too)

Eileen tells Sean that his new venture is a scam:
"It's called pyramid selling"
(and it isn't that easy to sell a pyramid)

Steve to the lawyers re: Oliver:
"I'm not letting him down. I'm letting him go"

George to Eileen:
"You can't improve on perfection"
(well, well, isn't he quite the embalmer charmer ?)

Todd warns Alina about Adam:
"Apart from Gail Platt, he's been with everyone on the street"
(and we're not even sure about Gail)

Sarah to Adam:
"You're a stupid, smug Scottish git"
(don't hold back. Tell him what you really think)

Alina to Fiz:
"I don't want children They're annoying and smelly"
(which children have you been hanging around with?)

Well, fellow Hotpot Habitués, so ends another week. Pretty tough sledding for all those watching the Steve/Leanne/Oliver story line. With no chance of a happy ending for this situation, I guess we have to prepare for even more anguish and pain ahead. Oh well, such is life for dedicated Corrie watchers. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
