Coronation Street Catch Up: the Eau de Kebab edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

It's somewhat poignant that Geoff's final exit from Coronation Street is in a box (locked, one presumes).

The ex-magician, who once locked Yasmeen in a box, is dispatched to his sombre funeral. However neither Tim nor Yasmeen can face attending the actual service and so they spend some time together reflecting on the passing of Geoff.

One the lighter side, it's like an episode of "Law and Order - Toys R Us" as would-be detectives Tim and Dev try to track down Tim's old toys (saved over the years and given to him by his Mum, Elaine). Tim foolishly gives them away to Evelyn for a charity sale before realizing that these treasures should be kept (and plus they have increased in value). Finally he buys back his toys from Bernie who makes a nice bit of coin off the situation.

Alas, that's just a glimmer of joy amidst the more grim developments on the Street. Speaking of developments, Nick turns down Ray's offer to move Underworld to a new location. However, Ray seems to have co-opted Dev and now Deverino seems to be supporting the redevelopment much to the chagrin of Roy, Abi and Kev.

Now let's get to the crimes and misdemeanours

Adam is persuaded by Daniel not to implicate Peter as the person who conked him on the head. As a result, Adam tells Inspector Don Rickles (not his real name) that it was Gary Windass. Meanwhile, Gary and Maria are shocked to discover that it was actually Faye who did the deed. Gary springs into action and finds the weapon which Faye used (a hospitality award for "Best Bistro run by a Sex Pest" one assumes).

On the Rick Neelan front, daughter Kelly is convinced that Gary knows what happened to Rick and says as much to Detective Rickles. The investigation continues.

Seems that despite Adam's ill-advised legover with Carla, Sarah is ready to forgive and forget and the two seem to be back together.

Speaking of ill-advised, Paul gets himself deeper into trouble by assaulting the fella who lives at the address where Paul thinks a young boy is being abused. This of course is all a fiction devised by evil genius Todd. Net result is Paul gets arrested and is charged with assault. He is released and awaits a trial.

And, also in the ill advised category, Peter is rushed to hospital for emergency surgery and subsequently learns the sad truth about the impact of his alcoholism and the demise of his liver. He discharges himself from hospital and seems to be resigned to the fact that his days are numbered. Ken, Daniel and Carla are all in shock at the news.

Imran and Toyah seem to be adjusting to the role of foster parents and await their second short term fostering assignment.

And now for a few lines from the week that was:

Peter reflects on better days as he talks to Daniel:
"I wish I still had me boat"
(I think that ship has sailed)

Nick declines the offer from Ray and Debbie to relocate Underworld:
"I'm going to stick with the devil I know"
(that would be Gary)

Asha announces the arrival of Ray:
"Look who it is: Donald Trump"
(so Debbie would be Melania?)

Faye confesses to assaulting Adam in the Bistro:
"I hit him with a hospitality award"
(ouch, no prizes for that)

Co-opted Dev praises Ray in front of a municipal planning official:
"This man is a pioneer"
(he's the Neil Armstrong of slime balls)

Peter to Ken re: his dire medical condition:
"Dad, we both knew this day would come"
(Another Barlow family crisis for poor Ken)

Evelyn to Tim and Dev re: Bernie and Ches:
"They all smell of kebab in that family"
(it's Chanel's new "Eau de Kebab")

Todd tells Billy that he's going to put in a good word for Paul:
"I'm not going to lie"
(that's a lie)

***
Well, uber Underworlders, so ends another week. Things don't look good for Faye, or Gary, or Peter or... well, the list goes on doesn't it? Ay Carumba! Let's hope for more uplifting news next week. In the meantime, thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a safe week. Cheers!
