your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas on the Street.
But instead of visions of sugar plum fairies, Adam has a strong recollection of a boozy Peter Barlow coshing him on the back of the head. At least, that's what he tells Daniel when he wakes up from his coma and points a 'j'accuse' finger at Petey. But Peter begs to differ. He maintains his innocence.
Elsewhere Sam (getting a wee bit annoying as time goes on) makes a strong case for staying in Weatherfield rather than moving to London with his Mom. Somewhat incredibly, Natasha agrees to let Sam stay with Nick while she does some important coiffure business in London. The only snag is that this means Leanne and Nick are, for all intents and purposes, splitsville. Not only that, but Leanne (who says she's going to France to see her Mom) is actually holed up in the flat grieving by herself.
On the police investigation front, it seems that the search for loan shark and loving Dad Rick Neelan is moving into high gear and Gary is brought into the cop shop for questioning. To make matters worse, Maria fails to provide Gary with an alibi for the night Adam was attacked so, any way you slice it, he's in trouble. Oh, and by the way, Maria wants a divorce (who gets custody of the tat shop? Just asking).
David and Shona come to the sad conclusion that neither of them is happy so they agree to split up, except that they then come to the conclusion that they should actually stay together no matter how nutty each of them are in their respective ways. Very nice. And, to top it all off, they have a nice little private party in the factory.
Yasmeen insists on hosting a happy Christmas dinner with Alya, Ryan and Cathy but the event is marred by some jarring flashbacks which Yasmeen experiences featuring a guest appearance by the reviled ghost of Christmas past (i.e. Geoff). Quick, somebody make him disappear...
Ches and Gemma bemoan the fact that they have no cash to buy their army of kids suitable presents (not really a surprise). Toyah and Imran have their first fostering experience.
And now for some lines from the week that was:
(it wasn't Peter's fault, it was the booze which was Carla's fault. So it was actually Carla)
Maria to Gary:
Sarah to Gary:
"You really are the lowest of the low"
Gemma to Michael:
Shona to David:
"Gail's planning a surprise present for you. It's a canoe"
Gary searches Google with three words:
"Police search wood"
Detective Don Rickles (not his real name) to Gary:
"What have you done with Rick Neelan?"
(Let's just say he's keeping a very low profile)
