your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...
So there's good news and bad news.
Good news? Arthur is coming to Canada! The bad news is that Evelyn is not coming with him (and I was so looking forward to Cerberus doing his business on my front lawn). Seems that Arthur's wife passed away and he wants to make a fresh start. Evelyn considers going with him but decides to stay with Ty and his family on the Street.
More good news. Ray has found David a new home. The bad news is that the new place comes with all mod cons (i.e. convicts), is close to all the amenities (i.e. the Dog and Gun), and comes with hot and cold running thugs. Yes, it looks like Davey and family are forced to move back to Shona's old stomping ground (i.e. where one gets stomped) at the estate.
Even more good news. Sally's lovely new house will make a fine new home for her and Tim. But... more bad news. Sadly the project is on hold so they've got to make "other arrangements" for two years. Thanks Ray!
Yes, it looks like Ray's redevelopment plan is moving ahead thanks to some help from the Chair of the Council committee who gives Ray the go-ahead (and seems to be rather cozy with the sex pest/developer). Despite vigorous protests from Abi and Roy and others, it seems to be a lost cause.
Elsewhere, Michael insists on a DNA test to see if he really is the father of Grace's baby. Seems that he is and now he's prepared to support Grace and the baby, much to the chagrin of Aggie.
Leanne has cloistered herself in her flat (while everyone thinks she is in France). An impromptu visit by Simon to the apartment finds Leanne in a deep sleep on the sofa. Simon panics, assumes the worst and calls an ambulance. Fortunately Leanne is fine.
Gary is banged up in prison, taking the fall for the attack on Adam while Faye (the real attacker) is racked with guilt.
Johnny is due in court for sentencing but Jenny is distraught and doesn't want him to go especially since he's having a flare up of his MS.
The exam results are out and Aadi does well although Asha does poorly. Methinks that toe rag Corey is to blame.
And now for some lines from the week that was:
Dev explains Ray's methods to Abi and David:
"It's not bribery, it's business"
(actually, it's bribery)
"Nobody puts Sally Webster over a barrel"
(...not without her written permission anyway)
Arthur extols the merits of Canada to Evelyn:
"There's some very good skiing"
Detective with an "arresting" sweater interrogates Gary:
Dev wants to share his childhood trauma with Evelyn:
"Let's just call it the burnt samosa story"
Roy makes a plea to the planning committee about Ray:
"These plans will tear the heart out of Weatherfield - without any anesthetic"
Evelyn comments on Dev's bedroom cactus problem:
"Cactus in the bedroom? You're heading out in the night to the smallest room in the house and all of a sudden you feel an unwelcome..."
