your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...
Let's break it down. He pops by Rev Billy's apartment to take an unscheduled shower, messes with Paul's head at work, gets him drunk, hires a child actor to con Paul into breaking the rules of the volunteer help line and gets a job as a volunteer working at the help line call centre.
It takes a lot of effort to be evil.
Speaking of evil, we still don't know who attacked Adam in the bistro. The list of suspects grows longer by the day but Inspector Don Rickles (not his real name) is on the case. Adding to the intrigue is the fact that the cops now have a lead (thanks to an anonymous tip from Sarah) on a cold case involving a body in the woods.
Then Bernie visits the cop shop to tell Inspector Don (not his real name) about the watch she found in the woods with Rick's name inscribed on the back.
Of course, the body burier is Gary and he is starting to sweat although he tells Sarah that if he is caught then he will squeal on her and reveal some of the um... "skeletons" in her closet (like what's his name buried underneath the Platt house).
Good news! The Bistro is reopening. Seems that a crime scene doesn't deter diners. Who knew? And, of course, Repugnant Ray is still working hard on bulldozing the Street despite a few hiccups along the way. His associate, Debbie, tries to patch things up with brother Kev (who lost his garage to Randy Ray) but Kev isn't interested.
Opposition to the redevelopment continues although David has been blackmailed by Rancid Ray to leave the protest group. Seems Ray has incriminating security camera footage of Shona breaking into the Bistro and helping herself (and Simon) to booze at his premises. One wonders how long one can tolerate Shona's constant faux pas.
Sam goes missing but turns up again with Gail. Seems he's upset because his Mom is planning to move to London.
And now a few lines from the week that was:
Paul comes up with a good line for Billy's Christmas sermon:
"We shut down the country but we opened up our hearts"
(I'm already tearing up)
Brian's protest posters are somewhat misleading:
"High rise low rent"
Brian's protest posters are somewhat misleading:
"High rise low rent"
(Sounds great! Where do I sign up?)
Mary asks Sarah about the condition of Adam's face:
"His ocular region is fine"

"His ocular region is fine"
(what about his schnozular region?)
Abi to David:
"You scrawny little toe rag"
(compliments will get you everywhere)
Abi announces the arrival of Deb:
"Kev, the backstabber's here"
(just call her "stabby" for short)
Ray to David re: the rapid reopening of the Bistro:
"Turns out murder's good for business"
(maybe you should have attempted homicides there more often?)

Well, fellow homebound honchos, so ends another week and another year on the Street. I do hope you enjoyed some modest New Year's festivities as we head into 2021. I wonder who will be the first person on the Street to get the vaccine? Ken? Rita? Aggie? Only time will tell. All the best to you for the New Year and let's hope for better days ahead. Cheers!
