Coronation Street Catch Up: the puff adder in slingbacks edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Question: Did you, or did you not threaten to kill Luckyduck372?

Answer: No. However I have tangled with Luckyduck351 and Luckyduck377.

Looks like the troll saga just keeps on going. Cathy remains terrified of the repercussions from her ill advised social media post about Steve's charity. The online blowback has all but destroyed business at the Kabin, caused Alex to hide out with his Mom in Scotland and made Cathy a local pariah.

Bernie tries to fight back on behalf of Cathy by using Gemma's social media account to threaten an online bully only to earn herself a warning from the police (Craig). Now Cathy is hiding out at Yasmeen's house, a mixed blessing for Elaine and Yasmeen. Although sworn to secrecy, Elaine tells a distraught Brian where Cathy is hiding.

In other news, the results of the paternity test are in and it looks like Michael's real Dad is Ken Barlow Edison, so Uncle Ronnie remains Uncle Ronnie although relations between Ronnie and Ed are more frosty than ever. James and Michael fear that Ed may have resumed his gambling addiction but, fear not, he simply scored a sweet deal on a camper van (at that bargain price, I'll take two).

Elsewhere, Fiz and Ty try to come to terms on a modus vivendi for the sake of the kids. Ty remains in the house sleeping on the sofa so the kids don't think he's abandoned them. However there's no sign of a reconciliation. In fact, Ty and Alina have their inaugural legover. Hmm.

On the illegal drug file, Leanne and Simon take off for points unknown so as to evade the wrath of drug kingpin Harvey (currently residing in HM jail). One would expect a secret departure in the dead of night but, instead, a large group of well wishers is on hand for the tearful farewell and, at the last minute, Nick decides to join the escapees.

That leaves Natasha and Gail who have come together as new gal pals for the sake of Sam. Seems like a bit of an unholy alliance. Just saying.

Faye is due in court to hear her sentencing. Everyone has fingers crossed that it won't be a long prison sentence (I'm having a hard time keeping track of who's in prison and who's out of prison).

Finally, there's Peter and Carla. Peter makes it onto the list for a transplant and before you can say "liver", a donor comes up and it's all systems go. But first, Peter is determined to get married (again) to Carla, a Barlow tradition (by which I mean, getting hitched to the same person twice, not marrying Carla).

And now a few lines from the week that was:

Craig to Bernie:
"Did you or did you not threaten to kill Luckyduck372?"

Cathy to Yasmeen re; Brian's inability to keep a secret:
"He's got a mouth like a clown's pocket"
(that's no laughing matter)

George gives flowers to Eileen that were left in funeral parlour with a card still attached:
"Rest in peace Mildred. You'll be missed"
(at least get the name right)

Brian to Bernie re: Tracy's nasty behaviour:
"She's like a puff adder in slingbacks"
(one might say a 'stylish serpent')

Tracy to Daniel re: Carla's dalliances with multiple Barlows:
"It's a good job that Dad's not around. She'll be making a pass at him next"
(Speaking of Ken, see below...)

Michael toys with his brother as he reveals James' paternity test results
"It says: Ken Barlow"
(probably a form letter)

Tracy to Steve re: Carla:
"Once a slapper, always a slapper"
(at least that's what it says on one of Tracy's t-shirts)

Seb writes a poem for Nina:
"Nina, Nina drinking Ribena in a Ford Cortina"
(when she reads that, she may flee to Bosnia and Herzegovina)

Peter to Daniel:
"The only thing that matters is being with the people you love"
(every now and then, a moment of truth)

Well, cobble collaborators, so ends another week. Apologies for the length of the post and the long list of lines. Sometimes you end up with a bumper crop. Thanks so much for the pleasure of your company and have a great week.
