Coronation Street Catch Up: the return of Lauren edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

So Lauren is alive and pregnant and hiding out in a squat.

The young waif recently managed to evade the clutches of evil Joel while she was visiting Roy in the Coronation Street Wing of Weatherfield General Hospital. Thanks to a witness and CCTV footage at the hospital, Dee Dee, Nina and others now know that Lauren is alive. D. S. Swain is on the case (kind of).

However Dee Dee and Bethany are already hot on the trail of Lauren (way ahead of Swain) and find her squat. Lauren evades them but runs into Joel who desperately wants to keep Lauren from telling the cops the truth about his evil grooming activities and his near fatal assault of her.

He tries to convince Lauren to tell police that it was Nathan who assaulted her.

Speaking of D.S. Swain, it seems that her troubled daughter (Betsy) is creating a heap of trouble for Carla. Betsy is threatening to tell police that she saw Carla in her car as she 'doored' a young cyclist/thug who was harassing Roy. Betsy uses this to blackmail Carla until Carla has had enough and reads Betsy the riot act.

Meanwhile Betsy has spotted Beth sneaking into Underworld after hours to do sewing work. It could spell trouble for Beth.

Ches and Gemma continue to face eviction from their home with no prospect of another place to live. Glam Grandma Linda offers to take in Joseph at her house but Gemma doesn't want to split up the family.

Kit seems to be up to no good as he plies Craig with drinks in order to get Craig to divulge how he bent the rules as a police officer (that was when he removed incriminating evidence for Faye). Craig manages to resist... so far.

Rowan (who always seems to be lurking around) has a proposition for Leanne. He wants Leanne to "invest" 40,000 pounds in a new Altovalent Resource Centre (slogan: 'get your downloads here'). Apparently it's a big money maker. Leanne is keen but Nick is not.  Rowan offers to have a word with Nick to change his mind. No doubt Rowan will use the Nick/Toyah legover as leverage to convince Nick to agree to the.. um.. 'investment'.

Sadly, Amy seems quite interested in Altovalent and has signed up for a seminar (or something).

And now for some lines from the week that was:

Leanne to Nick and Toyah:
"Rowan wants me to invest in a new resource centre"
(Where do I sign?)

Joel to Lauren:
"I can't go to prison"
(it might interfere with his wedding plans)

Joel explains what happened after he assaulted Lauren:
"I left to get help"
(he's half right; he left. And, BTW, add listening to Phil Collins on his car radio to his list of crimes)

Joel explains to Lauren why he beat her over the head with a piece of wood:
"I've got issues"
(ya think?)

Craig to Kit on his sports preferences:
"I prefer ice hockey"
(and I'm assuming he's a Maple Leafs fan)

Dee Dee to Joel re: their upcoming wedding:
"We best get started on our vows"
(How about: 'I vow to tell the truth about assaulting Lauren' ?)

***
Well,  fellow Corrie colleagues, so ends another week. It's good to see that Lauren is alive but she's still in danger from Joel. And, as a side note, perhaps Roy should get a shave. Just saying... Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week.
