Coronation Street TGIF: the cat loving Anne Frank edition

A look back at the week that was on Canada's Coronation Street

Steve is so depressed that he's quoting the poetry of W.H. Davies  (What is this life if, full of care/We have no time to stand and stare). If you think that's a downer, what about Michael and alleged son fishing in the canal? Or Liz doing her Pagliacci impression with makeup?

Elsewhere, Tracy is selling Rob's stuff. Carla is upset. Dev sabotages Julie's date with Ken Branagh Dominic,, in part, by describing Julie as a "cat-loving Anne Frank". Gavin and Steff get cozy. Michael breaks the news about his dodgy ticker to Gavin. Norris takes up astronomy with his late brother's telescope. Dev and Julie finally get together.  Gavin doesn't appear to be who he says he is.

And now a few lines from the week that was:

Michael to Gavin while in Norris' shop:
"What happens in the cabin stays in the cabin"
(just look at that jar of 30 year-old liquorice allsorts)

Liz to Tony while wearing her 'full metal jacket' makeup:
"I don't want to move my face"
(don't worry, he's leaving)

Mary makes conversation with Michael's handsome son:
"I had a hamster once named Gavin"
(was his name really Gavin?)

Emily bemoans today's email generation:
"What's wrong with good old fashioned pen and paper?"
(no spam filter?)

Norris to Steve re: the age of the Milky Way:
"That's 13 billion years old"
(even older than Coronation Street)

Tracy needs to sweet talk her way to a loan to keep the shop open:
"Just hope the bank manager is a man or a lesbian"
(I'd say the odds are good... unless it's a Crying Game situation).

Julie to Dominic:
"I don't usually kiss other men when I'm on a date"
(good rule of thumb)

Liz to Tony as they act nauseatingly cozy:
"You can help me change the barrel"
(I hope to God that's not a euphemism)

David describes the atmosphere at Chez Platt
"Permanent air of zen like calm"
(like the stock market trading floor or Heathrow during the evening rush)

***

Well, cobble companions, looks like we reach the end of the week wondering who Gavin is. And what of Steve? Will he see his way out of his depression? Tune in next week and thanks for stopping by. Meet you here next week. Cheers!
