Coronation Street Catch Up: the concrete twins edition

your update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Has Phelan gone to a watery grave?

It certainly seems that way after he and Eileen grappled by the sea and the killer slaphead plunged into the briny deep.

So, all's well that ends well. Right?  Not exactly. Back on the Street everyone is in shock when they learn that Phelan was responsible for four deaths.

The cops descend on the Street to interview people who knew him. Ken had his suspicions because Phelan took a very long time to fit his kitchen (by that logic every contractor in the world is a serial killer).

Eileen is in a state of shock, even more so when the police arrest her as an accomplice to Phelan's murderous exploits. And of course the ripples of Phelan's heinous crimes affect almost everyone connected with the victims: Michael, Andy and Luke (Vinny, not so much).

That's the big story but not the only story. Audrey befriends a hospital radio station deejay and even spins a few discs while accidentally locked in the radio's sound booth.

The Rovers family friendly pub experiment doesn't work out very well - both kids and parents hate it. And there's more bad news when Bethany learns that Nathan the Groomer has been granted an appeal.

And now for some lines from the week that was:

DJ Audrey selects a song for an 83 year-old hip replacement patient:
"Like a virgin"
(prepped for the very first time)

Phelan to Eileen during their cottage vacation:
"Whatever happens when the holidays are over, just remember the happy times"
(shouldn't take too long to do that)

Phelan confesses to burying his victims in cement:
"Andy and Vinny, the concrete twins"
(double indemnity)

Eileen to Phelan:
"You're a man who destroys lives"
(and fits kitchens... eventually)

Police to Eileen:
"Eileen Phelan, I'm arresting you on suspicion of murder"
(more like naivete in the first degree)

Eileen to police:
"That's my crime, I married a monster"
(last time I checked, monster marriage was actually legal in most countries)

***
Well, Weatherfield watchers, so ends another week and finally the truth about Phelan is out. While the shock and horror envelops the Street, one can't help but wonder if Phelan drowned.. or if he'll show up six months from now as a prisoner in someone's basement... well, one can dream. Have a great week and thanks so much for stopping by.
