Coronation Street Catch Up: the 'send down the clown' edition

your one-stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Looks like some clown got arrested on Coronation Street.

No, wait, that's Sally Webster, former mayor and victim of sleazoid con man, Duncan, who is framing her for fraud, bribery and money laundering. Not only that, but Duncan claims Sally was having it off with him. That's not very funny.

On the plus side, the fundraiser event for Jack went pretty well (except for when the coppers came in and arrested Sally).

Also not funny is Sean's predicament as he loses his job in the Rovers (for trying to snag some voddy for his homeless colleague). Now Sean is jobless as well as homeless. Since we're talking about the Rovers, it's worth noting that the new owners are Johnny and Jenny whose low-ball offer was accepted. An aggrieved Gemma was offered a job at the pub and she agreed.

Alya sees a DVD of Aidan and decides that the factory should belong to his family. She decides to sell to Carla for a song but then ups the price because she needs the money to save her own family's business: Speed Daal. Carla doesn't actually have the cash but she makes the deal anyway.

Jude and Angie are in marriage counselling. Jude thinks it's going well. Angie? Not so much.

Abi's visit with her kids doesn't go very well but Steve steps in and saves her from falling off the wagon. Abi then helps Steve buy an engagement ring for Tracy. Nice to see them getting along (I mean Steve and Abi, not Tracy and Steve).

And now a few lines from the week that was:

Sally tells Tim that she's innocent:
"I did not have an affair with Duncan and I did not steal any money"
(but dressing up as a clown? Guilty)

Tracy to Steve re: their dancing practice:
"You could do with being a being bendier"
(and a bit Swayzier)

Claudia examines Carla's hair colour?
"Is this licorice cappuccino?"
(um actually I think it's called "coal decaf")

Jenny negotiates working conditions with Gemma:
"I'm not giving you time off for leg waxing"
(it's called the Brazilian clause)

Police to Sally:
"Sally Metcalfe, I'm arresting you for fraud, bribery and money laundering"
(and also your conservatory violates the building code).

***

Am I having flashbacks to Greg Kelly? That was Sally's previous skirmish with a smooth talking con man, although I think in that case she was having an affair. This time, it's a total frame-up. Will Tim believe her? Will she succeed in clearing her name? Why is Imran defending dastardly Duncan? I guess we'll find out next week. Have a great week and thanks very much for dropping by.
