Coronation Street Catch Up: the bumpipes and watnot edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

First there was Lennon and McCartney and now the songwriting team of... Stu and Ken?

Seems Stu enlisted the help of Ken Barlow to pen his latest ditty to Yasmeen, performed live and in person at Speed Daal. This is supposed to be an apology to Yasmeen after Stu lied about the fact that he forgot to order food for Yasmeen's Eid Mubarak event.

Rather than admit his error, Stu convinced Ken to drive him over to the wholesaler and, in desperation, Stu tried to break into the place and was intercepted by police. But all's well that ends well when Yasmeen (after listening to Alya's plea) forgives Stu for lying and invites him to stay on at her house.

Elsewhere, the battle for custody of baby Alfie reaches new heights of dirty tricks as Imran pays his shady investigator to set up Abi and make it look like she's back on drugs (she's not). This after Imran and Toyah each have the world's saddest stag party and hen do (respectively) and then hastily get married to cement their future as an alleged happy family.  Abi, needless to say, is gutted by the outcome of the custody hearing.

Speaking of gutted, Faye is shocked to learn that she is not able to have babies and is reluctant to share the news with Craig who looks forward to having a family in the future. No worries though because Craig takes the news gracefully and assures Faye that he wants to be with her.

An interesting turn of events at the hospital as Aggie takes on her new assignment in the gastroenterology department headed by a dickish workplace bully named Dr. Thorne. Seems that Thorne is the same surgeon who performed Peter Barlow's liver transplant and he did it in record time.

Was this done to enhance hospital efficiency and whittle down the backlog of surgeries? No, not at all. Seems ol' Thorney did it to win a bet for how fast he could shove a new kidney into some poor punter (aka Peter).  Aggie discovers this alarming info. What will she do about it?

At the same hospital, in the Platt Wing, Max is recovering after breaking into 'Trim Up North' and cutting himself on the glass door while leaving. The good news? Max is recovering nicely. The bad news? He's been expelled from school and will probably be sent to Juvy for his drink-spiking activity.

And now for a few lines from the week that was:

Yasmeen reviews Stu's latest song:
"inane drivel"
(so, not like "Let it Be"?)

Fellow nurse to Aggie:
"Thorne's a nasty piece of work"
(and so is his surgery)

Thorne brags to his buddy about what a loser Peter Barlow is:
"All the followup tests show he's in fine health despite being a degenerate alcoholic"
(Whoa, he's not a degenerate)

Tracy to Stu after finding him wearing Amy's old housecost:
"Leave it on your way out and I'll fumigate it later"
(next time, he should wear Ken's kimono)

Michael to Aggie re: gastroenterology:
"Isn't that people's bumpipes and watnot?"
(That's what it says in Gray's Anatomy)

Toyah to Imran:
"I don't trust the universe"
(I'm sure the feeling's mutual)

Toyah asks Imran about her sequined outfit:
"What does this dress say to you?"
(Star Trek?)

Shona to David re: his two kids:
"One of them's borderline feral"
( I wonder which one?)

***

Well, patient punters, so ends another week. That Thorne fella is a nasty piece of work and he's doing a good job of making Aggie's life miserable. Hopefully, Abi will maintain her sang froid and not go off on one (as she usually does) due to her setback in the fight for custody of baby Alfie. Oh well. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.
