Coronation Street Catch Up: the death and taxis edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

First things first.

Give those dogs (Cerberus & Coco) a BAFTA for best supporting canines. While Evelyn and Mimi are exchanging insults, the two dogs are sitting quietly on the sofa enjoying each other's company. Such nuance! Such dramatic counterpoint!

Yes, it's wedding week on the Street as Fiz and Phill head to the altar. Of course, there are a few snags. First, Mimi (Phill's overbearing Mum) shows up (avec chien) and is invited to stay at Fiz's. Then Phill's ex-wife, Camilla, shows up and inserts herself into the pre-wedding hen-do with warm thoughts about Phill.

Turns out that Hope Stape is the architect of the pre-wedding mayhem. She's a dab hand at sending emails from Phill's account and is doing her best to sabotage the nuptials with fake emails to Camilla and attempts to ruin the bridesmaid's dresses. Then she cancels the wedding registrar. Turns out she doesn't want Phill to marry her Mum.

To add even more spice to the mix, Tyrone decides to tell Fiz how he feels about her and that he still loves her. What will Fiz do at the altar?

Elsewhere, the Platts (notably David) are gobsmacked by Audrey's decision to leave her estate to the Weatherfield Association of Retail Traders (WART). David collars Adam and asks about having Audrey declared doolally (legal term) in order to get power of attorney.

Oops! Turns out the WART thing was just a ploy by Audrey and not her real intention... except that now she knows that David et al. are greedy, money-grubbers who will do anything to get their hands on her money.

Steve remains adamant about not hiring Ed to deal with his leaky roof. Instead he hires some cowboy who takes him for 3,000 pounds (and counting). This can't end well.

Toyah enjoys her eco warrior adventure with Spider and invites him to crash at her place. They catch up and reminisce about old times.. However Toyah subsequently asks Spider to leave her flat (people will talk).  Then Toyah decides to let Imran's Mum have Imran's ashes, then regrets the decision and tries to get them back but it's too late. Imran's Mum has buried the ashes.

And now for some lines from the week that was:

Phill to Fiz:
"I am the luckiest man alive"
(let's not count our chickens - especially with Hope around)

Fiz hesitates when reciting her wedding vow:
"We are now an unbreakable team"
(and there's no "Ty" in team)

Evelyn apologizes to Mimi:
"I'm sorry that I accidentally kicked your crutch away"
(could happen to anyone)

Speaking to David and Gail, Audrey ponders her mortality:
"It's death and taxis, as they say"
(it's the taxis that get you in the end)

One of Stu's ill conceived Speed Daal menu suggestions
"Covid Nantine"
(no thanks)

Evelyn to Phill re: his hug with Camilla:
"I call it canoodling"
(with intent)

***
Well, fellow wedding watchers, so ends another week and we are left waiting to see if Fiz will go through with the wedding... or is having second thoughts. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week!
