Coronation Street Catch Up: the "sorry for copping off" edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club.
The first rule of Tai Chi is: you do not talk about who passed wind during Tai Chi.

Yes, although Tim, Sally, Ed and Steve join Elaine for a session of Tai Chi with Zen master Gerry, it seems that someone who shall remain nameless (Steve) was unable to contain his lower-body biological... um.. "tones".

No matter. Gerry is suitably gracious about the unplanned "wind chimes" emitted by his gaseous student and, more importantly, the friendship between Tai Chi Gerry and Elaine continues to flourish.

This is bad news for Stephen. First of all, Stevie is dismissive of Gerry's expertise. Second, and more irritating to Steve-o, is the fact that his plan to portray Elaine as dangerously depressed isn't working. Third, there seem to be some serious cracks developing in his relationship with Elaine.

Stephen's surreptitious visit to Dr. Gaddas to voice his concerns about Elaine's mental health and his attempts to escalate the rift between Elaine and her son, Tim, are all for naught thanks to the restorative powers and influence of Gerry. Oh dear! One hopes that the Zen master doesn't incur the wrath of Stephen or 'Tai' Chi could suddenly turn into 'Die' Chi...

Elsewhere, Gemma is in a bad way. This after mental and physical fatigue causes her to nod off while babysitting her brood (plus Bertie and Glory).  There's a close call when Bertie takes some of Gemma's medication but everything is ok (phew!) and Daniel is gracious about the incident.

Not so Beth who sticks her oar in and reports Gemma to the authorities. Now Gemma faces problems because of her unlicensed babysitting operation, not to mention the fact that her ability to take care of her quads might be in question. On top of that, Gemma and Ches are even more strapped for cash. Where will it end?

More stress over at Sarah and Adam's where the couple awaits the result of the DNA test of Sarah's baby to see if the Dad is Damon or Adam. For Adam it's pretty straightforward. If the baby is his, great, If not, then Sarah has a termination. It's not so clear cut for Sarah especially after a pregnancy scare. Sarah wants to have the baby - regardless of the paternity test. But Adam doesn't see it that way and all that stress leads him to have a panic attack while presenting a case in court.

Good news! Peter's back on the Street and he's made it just in time to say goodbye to Ryan who's off to see his Mom (finally). Daisy is emotional when she finds out that Ryan is leaving. Side note: Peter is wearing a t-shirt with the number '2' on it. Is there a hidden meaning? Was the store all out of number '1' t-shirts?

Spider is being asked by his supervisor to leave Weatherfield however Spider doesn't share the info with Toyah who wonders what he is up to. However Spider assures Toyah that her suspicions are unfounded and proposes to her.

And now for a few lines from the week that was:

Tai Chi Gerry to Elaine:
"Let me help restore the balance within"
(by sending Stephen back to Canada?)

Bernie to Jenny because Paul is self-flagellating over his bad behaviour:
"Do you have any whips in the backroom"
(there may be some left over from the Bet Lynch era)

Bernie locks the Rovers after Zac (the thief) arrives and she plans to summon the cops:
"No one leaves here until the filth arrives"
(a bit harsh, Craig took a shower this morning)

Tim to Sally re: Stephen:
"I've got a radar for wrong 'uns"
(he must have downloaded an app from the Google store)

Bernie to Paul after Paul ponders an apology gift for Billy:
"What? To say sorry for copping off? "
(they have some lovely Hallmark cards for that)

Stephen explains why he was making a rude face while Elaine talked about Gerry:
"I was getting some arugula out of my teeth"
(try using a hole punch)

***
Well, Corrie colleagues, so ends another week. Hopefully, Joseph's Grandma (or someone, please!) will step in and help the beleaguered Ches and Gemma family cope with the financial burden they're facing. Nice to see Peter back on the Street. Thanks for spending some time here at the Hip and I hope you have a great week.
