Coronation Street Catch Up: the 'just a couple of screws' edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

Well, I think we can say that Tommy Orpington's 'body of work' speaks for itself and that Tracy was 'stimulated' by his efforts in the bedroom. But what of poor Steve? Away for a mini-break in France while Tracy and Tommy engage in "le grand legover". Mon Dieu!

Steve returns, none the wiser, and tries to be a better, more affectionate husband (sorry Stevie, Tommy beat you to it). Now Steve is wondering why Tracy is not succumbing to his noble efforts while Tommy takes on the herculean task of making over Sally's bedroom as super-fan Tim enjoys the proximity to his idol.

Adam is getting himself deeper into trouble after making a deal with Harvey in order to exact revenge on Harvey's step brother, Damon. Damon, as we know, is shacking up with Sarah (excellent picker of men) and Adam is determined to get rid of his nemesis. To do this, Adam must get a hapless cancer victim (Harvey's associate) to insist that it was he (and not Harvey) who shot Natasha. This con job is designed to get Harvey's early release from jail.

Vixen-in-training, Bethany, tricks Lauren into dishing the dirt on Ryan and Daisy with a view to writing a piece of trash for a trashy online publication called 'Chit Chat'. There's no chance that she will win a Pulitzer for this gem of investigative journalism. Daniel, of course, is clueless about what Bethany is up to.

Nice guy Joel seems to have some skeletons in his closet as a mystery woman shows up suddenly to harangue Joel and causes him to insist that he'll "get it sorted". Dee Dee remains blissfully unaware of Joel's past as she becomes ever more smitten by her boyfriend.

Simon goes from bad to worse as he continues to wallow in self pity and alcoholic beverages. Leanne is worried that he may be taking after his Dad.

And now for a whole bunch of lines from the week that was:

Steve to Tim:
"Do you think I'm sexy?"
(can he get back to you?)

Toyah to Mary re: Tommy Orpington:
"He can paper my walls any day"
(we're talking about redecorating, right?)

Jenny reprimands Daisy for her stroppy attitude:
"Folk don't like being served by passive aggressive barmaids"
(if they did, they'd go to the Dog and Gun)

Toyah to Tracy:
"Men are such a let down"
(Sing it, sister!)

Tracy to Tommy O re: his conversation with Toyah:
"I saw you chatting up the local drip"
(jealous?)

Tommy O to Tracy:
"I fancy the pants off you"
(literally)

Daisy stops Kirk and pals from their vocal support of Weatherfield County:
"No singing or shouting or chanting"
(just eating and drinking)

Sally to Tommy:
"We've been thinking about freshening up things in the bedroom"
(what about the re-decorating?)

Gail to Sarah re: Damon:
"...and he's so awful"
(don't sugarcoat it, tell us how you really feel)

Steve to Ken re: Tracy:
"I want to give her an afternoon she'll never forget"
(Tommy already took care of that)

Glenda shares her bad experience with Ed:
"I was dreaming about nipple tassels for months"
(Poor Ed, hasn't he suffered enough?)

Steve plays some French music for Ken:
"No one can resist a bit of Elaine Pief"
(...except perhaps Edith Piaf)

Amy to Steve after getting her a gift of a tp cover:
"I'll think of you every time I go to the toilet"
(how touching!)

Tommy tells Steve that his DIY handiwork was easy:
"It was just a couple of screws"
(and the cupboard was easy to fix too!)

Steve again:
"And you did a good job upstairs as well, didn't he?"
(He certainly seems to have a satisfied customer)

Steve to Tommy re: his method:
"So what's your technique then? Start from the top and work your way down?"
(Yes, but first make sure the surfaces are smooth)

Steve once again:
"I like to give it a good go; nothing better than getting a guy in that knows what he's doing though"
(Does that go for painting as well?)

***
Well, double entendre devotees, so ends another week as Tracy and Tommy get down to business (a few times) while Steve is away. When Steve returns the double entendres are flying fast and furious. But what happens now? Are Tracy and Steve destined to go their separate ways? Will this be Steve's eighth divorce?  Time will tell. Thanks so much for dropping by and have a great week!
