Coronation Street Catch Up: the roses are thorny edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

"Violets are blue, roses are thorny
Be my valentine, 'cause I is horny"
- Steve McDonald, self-proclaimed sexy Shakespeare

Looks like Steve's Valentine's Day..er.. 'poem' to Tracy hasn't stoked the flames of desire, nor has his luncheon treat at the Bistro. Seems that Tracy only has eyes for Weatherfield former star footballer turned painter, Tommy O. Tommy, on the other hand, is now resisting Tracy's amorous advances, and thinks Trace should pay attention to her marriage.

Over at Gary and Maria's, there is grave concern about Liam after they discover that their son has been Googling methods of suicide. This alarming turn of events follows the never-ending bullying of Liam at the hands of junior thug Mason and accomplice, Dylan. Maria takes Liam to see the doctor who recommends mental health counseling and advises Maria to keep an eye on her son.

Dylan's Dad, Sean, finally learns the truth about his son when he demands to see Dylan's phone. Dylan's repulsive (and homophobic) texts horrify Sean who intends to take Dylan to the school head to tell the truth about the bullying. However Mason warns Dylan to stay quiet.

Leanne proposes to Nick who awkwardly accepts but has reservations about the marriage after Simon crashed Leanne's car (with Sam inside) and Leanne lied about the accident. The Platts are even less enthused about the nuptials when they learn that Leanne wants a destination wedding.

Alya gets a bit over-interested in Joel after discovering some 'damning' evidence (i.e. expensive cuff links and riding in a car with a woman). What should one do in a case like this? Probably not examine security video footage at the Bistro to find the mystery woman. Seems a bit extreme. After all, the name of the show is Coronation Street not CSI Weatherfield. Anyway, seems that Joel is hiding something from Dee Dee.

Lauren is on Ovidz (you know, that sketchy website that Ryan exposed himself on) and Max, Sabrina and Bobby are concerned. Lauren also has money problems and, after she goes through Bethany's purse (left behind in the caf), Roy fires her which seems a bit hasty for Roy.

And now for some lines from the week that was:

Steve tells Amy that he's proud of his verse:
"I'm like a sexy Shakespeare"
(more like a rude Neruda)

Steve asks Amy to give Tracy a reminder:
"Tommy's going to be dropping his kit off later"
(and when will he be leaving his painting gear?)

Leanne to Nick:
"Will you marry me?"
(can he get back to you?)

Alya to Dee Dee re: men:
"They are a strange species"
(just ask Jane Goodall)

Leanne to Toyah re: nuptial plans:
"I want it to be small"
(and what about the wedding?)

Leanne to Toyah and Gail:
"What about a destination wedding?"
(you mean like the Red Rec or the Flying Horse?)

Gail to Leanne, Toyah and Nick:
"My skin goes very lobster in temps over 22 and 1/2 degrees"
(the proverbial red menace)

Gail again:
"I get prickly heat everywhere"
(no further questions)

Gail to Nick re: Leanne:
"I have never been a massive fan"
(tell us what you really think)

Tracy to Tommy O.:
"My little bit on the side"
(on the side of what?)

Well, fellow cobble colleagues, so ends another week. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week.
