Coronation Street TGIF: the gold medal 'curling' edition

please note this post makes reference to the Feb 20 episode on CBC

There's no sporting event like it. A team of women at the top of their form, competing with one another for world supremacy. Curling? Hockey? Well hair curling, maybe. I'm talking about the gathering in Audrey's salon of course: Stella, Rita, Maria, Deirdre and Audrey. A powerhouse group of females. Elsewhere on the street, Rob is in the doghouse, Owen is sweating about his big business deal, Tina is hanging around being Tina, Steve is jealous of Lloyd and Andrea, Sophie is getting more involved with Maddy and Dennis is pursuing his geriatic rock and roll dreams and getting chummy with Gloria. Now, a few choice lines from the week that was:

Tracy gives some sage advice to Rob regarding Norris:
"If you're going to hit him, make sure there's no witnesses."
(Tracy should know. She's an expert in assault)

Carla wants to know why Tina wants to leave:
"What's so great about London?"
(as Dr Johnson said: when a man is tired of Weatherfield, he is tired of life)

Mary tells Norris what she thinks of him:
"Norris, you're a conundrum"
(if conundrum is a synonym for busybody, I agree)

Mary's reaction after Norris spills the beans to Tracy about Rob & Tina:
"You can be the most small-minded, despicable, busybody forever sticking your nose in where it's not wanted and you delight in causing upset and distress whenever you can"
(please go on...)

Mary again to Norris:
"It is only a very foolish man who will risk the wrath of Tracy Barlow"
(abandon hope all who rile her)

Ritchie's greeting to Rita and Gloria:
"How are you two rock chicks then?"
(igneous rock, I would assume)

Tim describes the burglar to Sophie:
"Burly is the word I'd use"
('Girly' would be more like it)

Rita is perturbed by what she hears while under the hairdryer at Audrey's:
"It's a den of iniquity, that bistro"
(sort of a bordello of legovers)

Stella to Gloria re: Ritchie and Dennis:
"They're fighting over you like a couple of randy old stags"
(let's just call it 'stagnation')
***
Well, faithful Corrie colleagues, so ends another week. How long with Tina hang around? Will Tracy forgive Rob? Will Owen get rich and will Anna find herself in a tricky situation? Will Norris ever change? We'll find out, I'm sure, in the days to come. Thanks as always for stopping by and all the best. Cheers!
