Coronation Street TGIF: the Rottweiler with a bone edition

a look back at the week that was on Canada's Coronation Street

It was a nice 90-minute feast of Corrie on Friday with two episodes and a touching tribute to Deirdre sandwiched in between. I only wish we had some of those great story lines today (my favourite was the fake airline pilot). But I digress.

Here's what's up.

Steve is seeing a shrink but doesn't like the fact that Michelle and Liz are tiptoeing around him. Maddie plays pranks on Norris but realizes it's not very nice - even if Norris is a trollish misanthrope. Michael prepares for his open heart surgery. Callum is getting cozy with Katie. David is afraid that he might lose custody of Max.

Roy has a moment with Sinead and realizes that he must live his life as Hayley wanted. That means scattering her ashes and fixing the Woody (oh, grow up!). Sinead is getting better (is it me or is this story a lot like Sophie after her car accident?) Faye is skipping school because she says the kids think she's fat and Craig (nice lad) is concerned. And the re-modelled Bistro has re-opened (I liked the old Bistro better).

Now for a few lines from the week that was:

Gavin explains his strange behaviour to Leanne:
"I hate letting women down"
(...but you're getting quite good at it)

Norris tells Sharif that he's a modern techno man:
"Even I have a tablet"
(Advil or Tylenol?)

Maddie gets angry with Norris for short-changing her:
"You should be living under a bridge, you miserable little troll"
(steady on, young lady! He does not live under a bridge)

Sophie asks Norris about astronomy:
"What's the most interesting thing you've seen through your telescope?"
(smog, I would think)

Eileen ogles Callum:
"I reckon you could pull anything off"
(like a big drug deal?)

Norris admires Kevin's blue collar credentials:
"Where would we be without your horny handed hands of toil?"
(Hey, who are you calling horny?)

Steve to his therapist:
"Why isn't the whole world sad?"
(it soon will be if the Kardashians stick around much longer)

Norris remembers what Emily wanted from the cafe and shouts it out:
"Cream horn!"
(sounds like a safe word from Fifty Shades of Grey)

Mary grudgingly buys a birthday card for her mother:
"Still she hangs on like a Rottweiler with a bone"
(I wonder if Hallmark has a card for that?)

***
Well, gung ho gang of ginnel fans, so ends another week on the Street. I'd love to see more stories with Craig, Darryl, Tim, Maddie and Tyrone. Fewer stories with the Platts. And, oh yes, bring back Lloyd. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope next week is a good one on the Street. All the best and have a great week. Cheers!
