Coronation Street TGIF: the VomCom edition

a look back at the week that was on Canada's Coronation Street

Here's a little mystery: how did Linda with the posh accent and glam looks ever fall for Owen who dresses like a hobo and and has all the charm of a dour hobbit? No matter, Linda is going back to Portugal and Katie may be going with her.

Katie and drug dealer Callum are finito (and he was such a nice lad). Sharif and Roy continue to vie for an allotment. Faye's birthday party is a bust (small wonder since she still hasn't revealed her pregnancy).

Eileen is trying Internet dating. Reverend Billy doesn't want his congregation to know about his relationship with Sean. Plattwise, Gail missed her wedding due to a bribery episode from the real Gavin. Michael is miffed. David is trying to deal with Callum the drug dealer.

Hmm, what am I forgetting? Oh yes, the real Gavin is dead. May his four-episode appearance be long remembered. Amen and here's a few lines from last week.

Sharif to the wife of the allotment decider:
"You have the most impressive pair of hanging baskets I've ever seen"
(and the flowers don't look so bad either)

Anna disagrees with Linda about languages:
"They speak Brazilian in Brazil"
(and Latin in Latin America, duh)

Michael shares the highlights of his wedding speech with fake Gavin:
"I might have tried to steal Gail's hi-fi but instead she stole my heart"
(almost brings a tear to your eye)

Eileen tells Todd she doesn't like Julie's romantic comedy videos:
"Do you really want to waste two hours of your life watching a VomCom?"
(Most of the plots are regurgitated anyway)

The name of Reverend Billy"s Christian comedy event:
"Ha Ha Hallelujah"
(Bye Bye Bible)

Todd to Eileen re: finding a man through Internet dating:
"Sometimes you need to shake the tree a little"
(even if your man eventually 'leaves' you)

Audrey to Gail on her wedding day:
"Even you don't get married every day"
(only on Leap Years)

Michael to Gail after she finally shows up:
"We've missed our slot"
(it's a registry office not Heathrow)

One man's response to Eileen's dating profile:
"I'm looking for someone to light my fire"
(an arsonist who likes long walks on the beach?)

Tracy mocks the idea of searching for love on the Internet:
"Online dating is for desperadoes and sexpests"
(not for felons)

.
Todd disagrees with Julie's ideas to make Eileen attractive to dates:
"Just because they're straight, doesn't mean they're clueless"
(just desperate)

Poor Real Gavin. We hardly knew you. Rest in Peace. Meanwhile the world moves on. A special thank you for your comments. For some reason the blog software hasn't been letting me post replies or thank yous lately. But hopefully that will be resolved soon. Thanks for stopping by and all the best. Cheers!
