Coronation Street Catch Up: the return of Norris Cole edition

your one-stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

He's back.

The Colemeister. Senor Fussbudget. Norrissimo... (that's enough - ed). Yes, the King of Sweater Vests has returned to Coronation Street after an extended absence. And he's got a few surprises up his sleeve(less).

Surprise number one: he's selling his house (formerly Emily's house). Mary is not amused.
Surprise number two: he's engaged to Freda (Emily's niece) and thus needs a divorce. Mary is not amused.
Surprise number three: he hid letters written by Mary's former lover and UFO expert (Brendan) who had subsequently divorced his wife, sent Mary a ring and expressed his undying love for her. Mary is really not amused.

Apparently Norris hid the letters to protect Mary but she is furious at his interfering ways. As a result, she agrees to divorce Norris and never wants to speak to him again, while Freda dumps him and says the marriage is off.

In other news, Robert manages to find Carla but she is completely freaked out and escapes while her family desperately searches for her.

Bethany is finally ready for a relationship with Ryan but discovers that Ry has been hedging his bets by setting up a date with Alya. Bethany tells Ryan to sling his hook.

Sophie and Paula (the lawyer) seem to be getting back together and are going on a pony trek in Spain (isn't everyone?).  Something's up with Dev's daughter, Asha, She missed an exam and the school calls Dev who is upset and confiscates Asha's phone (well, one of them, anyway).

And finally, Tim wins the heart health contest beating Steve and Dev thanks to his new diet and some expensive athletic clothing which apparently is not made of spandex.

And now for a few lines from the week that was:

Sophie is surprised by Paula's proposal:
"Pony trekking with you?"
(it's a like a Horse with No Name for women)

Freda to Norris:
"I am leaving and I never want to see you again"
(join the club).

Mary to Norris:
"The divorce papers are in the post"
(express delivery, I would assume)

Rita reads an excerpt from a letter from Brendan to Mary:
"Without you I am an alien in my own life"
(Call me ET)

***
Well, fellow Cole-aborators, Norris has finally returned. A more demure busybody than I recall but still up to his eyeballs in meddling and indecisiveness. Some things never change. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week. Cheers!
